You should check out "Could Batman solve the Kira Case?" on YouTube. Would be cool to take the Batman parody to the next level. Of course after you finish the show though, video might be spoilerish.

And THIS is the episode that really cements Kira as irredeemable trash. The way he just gets such pleasure and joy out of manipulating Naomi, and then how he just soaks in the terror she goes through as she realizes what she's done, just before the clock seals her fate. I recommend at least looking up the dub version of the final scene, because I love Brad Swaile's performance. He gives Light such an arrogant, smarmy, mocking tone, as he's literally taunting Naomi about not being able to catch him, essentially. It makes him disgusting, and it's perfect. And that was Aizawa walking past them, with the umbrella, making his way back to the precinct. It really shows how close Light was to being caught. If the snow had started just a little bit later, Aizawa would've seen Light, and blown the whole case right open in front of Naomi. And an interesting thing I heard is that the author of Death Note really liked Naomi Misora, and wanted her to stick around a bit longer, but accidentally wrote her as being too competent. With everything that she'd figured out, if she had been allowed to successfully make contact with L, there'd be no reason Light wouldn't get caught out almost immediately.

Regarding the fake names: It doesn't matter if there is someone with that same name out there as Light would have to also think of that person's face to affect them. And yeah I agree that Light fooling her didn't look that convincing in the sub. In the dub, it was very clear how he was able to fool even her.

Honestly, I think it's a waste to shoot her down so early, but on the other hand it's still better than doing one asspull after another or suddenly cut her IQ in half just to prevent Kira from getting caught prematurely 8 episodes into the anime, at least in my eyes.

I love Ryuk's character, just how he giggled to himself and couldn't wait to see Light's face when it dawned on him that she outsmarted him. XD And hey: have you seen L and Batman in the same room yet? I haven't...not a detective, just saying... Only thing that might come in handy would be if Naomi kept notes about her theories somewhere. In that case someone could stumble over them when cleaning up after her disappearance & start working from where she left off. EDIT: Interesting comparing Tanya with Light, didn't occur to me before. I'd say, while both may be somewhere on the psychopathy spectrum, one huge difference I see between the 2 is that Tanya is acting entirely out of egoism; her goals are self-preservation & securing a comfortable long-term position in life for herself. The fate of the empire only bothers here because that's where she lives and works on her career, she wouldn't have any remorse switching sides if she could & it would offer her a significant advantage long-term, and she has no illusions about her egoism & her complexes. Light - at least in his view - is acting for some "higher cause" and to "eradicate evil" and only we as the viewers can see how much he relishes using his power and lording over life and death like a god.

Now this episode is another proof of how the convenience is with Light. (May the convenience be with you I guess) The moment Light takes her license it begins snowing, causing Aizawa to open up his umbrella and miss Light. If Aizawa has seen Light he would have recognised him and go to him to say hello. He would meet Naomi, out Light as a liar for saying he was in the task force, contact L and bring her to the HQ to talk to L. I enjoyed the show, don't get me wrong but these last two episodes bug me.

Kurumi

this episode just proves how easily human emotions can destroy your decision making. She was so cautious and smart until Light gave her a small glimmer of hope and that in turn dropped her guard can't lie that was brilliantly done.. gotta give Light credit where credit is due for that one

I don’t mind these convenient things happening because the fact that Light got the death note in the first place was pure chance. So to show that he’s lucky at times is just another example of that. It could easily go the other way and it helps show how at any moment regardless of planning everything could either go well or fall apart for you.

i like how you are so random with supporting any character in this show... you like Light and then you dont... you be like, dont out yourself and same with Naomi. Fun to watch
