Well, nothing like breaking in your new position like getting back in shape! Alexis sure doesn't let her new free time go to waste!

Saburo X

Huh. Did I spy a dialogue change in there?

foducool

yeah I think the original dialogue said than was saying goodbye or something ^^

Anonymous

Her saying goodbye was there originally. But lets see where this goes.

Alexis is looking sexy as hell in that one-piece exercise suit, that's a lot of fabric.

Alexis looks great

The original dialogue said “I wanted to come and say “goodbye”.” which is not like Than at all. Current versions is a bit duplicitous which is more like Than. Even so… I'm surprised that she'll just leave. I hoped for either some fight (not direct bust-to-bust fight, but more circumstantial one) or may be some agreements and stipulations. If “Moarcraft guy” words on page 137 are to be believed Than is no longer a president but she STILL is one of the largest shareholders. And I don't mean “largest” as in “physically”, LOL. She could either make Alexis life significantly easier or make it significantly more difficult still. Why just go away then? Than's “goodbye” was the last thing I've expected to see here, frankly. I was sure she just does not know how to give up and will plan a comeback… well, maybe not immediate and direct comback, but anyway… this is weird dialogue even in altered form.

Would love to see a sidestory with daily lives of Alexis and/or Than. Who dresses them, e.g.? Is it done by sone kind of machine or do someone gets a lot of exercise out of the process? Heck, I now understand why comics often have filler chapters (LBSM uses separately published side-stories instead): they help to flesh out a characters which is really hard to do in a main storyline. Think about it: we know that Than and “Moarcraft guy” were “friends with benefits” at least… so, now, when Alexis have replaced Than what happened to THAT side of the story? And where the heck is Rhea in all that? 20 pages earlier (on page 125) Rhea and Alexis looked like a good friends, too—and Alexis quite explicitly asked Rhea for help thus we have quite complex structure of relationships already. And that's if you forget about Ey, Mika, Miriam, Lou (he was never a romantic interest of anyone, obviously, since Alexis was put out and tried to “drown herself in her work” at the time—but was he kicked on the street when Alexis and Rhea become friends again?), etc. And I still wonder why such a significant chunk of previous chapter was dedicated to Amelia, Marigold, Su-Z Q: was it done just to show us a glimpse of life in pATAgon or is there some deeper significance to this story? It took ⅘ of the previous chapter, after all! Loose ends are inevitable as story progresses (when there are dozen of characters you couldn't follow lives of them all!), but fillers help us to understand what drives at least the most important participants… On the other hand chapter 6 creation was quite slow even without fillers: chapter 5 was finished by March 4 and it's January 10 thus LBSM was published with an average speed of two pages a month, LOL…

Alexis looks great, but what I find really amusing here is how similar colors or Alexis and Than outfits are here. This only happened once before: at the wet T-shirt contest in the LBSC… but there it was dictated by rules of the game… What does it mean? Or is it just an accident and there are no hidden meaning?

Huh... Than seems so oddly subdued and taking this huge turn of events very calmly. Which just seems tremendously strange given how her entire existence up to this point in the series has been as the head of Patagon and her main desire in everything seems to have centered around being the biggest. Now that she's not, she's seemingly like "Ok, goodbye!" ? If she's just saying goodbye here to literally exit the comic, that would be beyond strange and super disappointing. Than acting so level headed here again makes me wonder how much time has passed since the showdown. So maybe she's had some time to think things over. I'd just be super disappointed if Than kind of vanished from the series here on out since I think she's one of the more interesting (and aesthetically pleasing) characters. I'd hope she's not just giving up and fading away but instead has some kind of scheme cooked up to usurp Alexis or just some plan that she's going to slowly enact behind the scenes. She just has never seemed the type to simply give up and accept defeat.

Couldn't agree more. While I'm not big fan of Than as a person as character she's very important. Heck: she WAS the driving force behind the whole story so far and to just stand up and go away… that's just crazy! Yes, she was forced to think about her quest and, perhaps, have found her desires a big foolish and empty, but even so: she still, apparently, have her “the only advertisement for this place is by word of mouth” establishment, she have few acquitances, and, well, she couldn't just suddenly turn around and become a waitress or something: as she said to Alexis “I doubted you'd be very effective waiting tables… I know I wouldn't be”, LOL… I was ready to see many things in this confrontation, but subdued Than who just's just saying “goodbay”? That wasn't on the agenda. At lest altered version of her last speech bubble keeps her somewhat sarcastic, but still… that was unexpected… and not in a good way… P.S. Of course there's another possibility (voiced by mr.coma): “Alexis is now too big for protagonist-ing. Than is now protagonist, and the next six chapters will be her quest for vengeance”… IF Than embarks the discovery journey and plans to return later, then some parting words are appropriate, but still… Than is way too subdued here… something strange goes on…

I hope than doesn't just drop into storyline limbo like Kay and Sadie;she was just getting to be the most lovable antagonist!

Guybuddy1

I would love to see what kind of interactions Than would have with Kay. But yes, I do sort of hate how Kay and Sadie have been MIA for a long while. They showed up in Down is the New Up but most of that was in flashback form. I guess they've been in some sketches here and there but I think Kay having Steve Jr was sort of her last notable plot point?

Anonymous

Kay could teach Than how to actually have fun instead of obsessing over the sheer size of her breasts.Maybe they will cross paths;who knows?

Anonymous

Kay and Than could be an interesting team indeed. Kay pranks are usually harmless while Than have resources to do “big” things but her idea of “fun” is to stomp someone into the dirt. I think Zdemian made his background characters too deep: now we want to know what happens to them more then we want to know what is happening to Rhea, Alexis and pATAgon, LOL. Heck, Kay and Sadie looks more interesting than Alexis who's supposed to be a protagonist! She's so flat (as character: http://goo.gl/kn4wnW ) it's not funny. I agree with Than: she's looking really well here, but I just hope that she'll become somewhat rounder ( as character: http://goo.gl/kn4wnW ) and become someone who's not just a fitness-trainer-slash-figureheard-CEO-driven-by-others… there's only so much Rhea could do without good thinking on Alexis part…

TomboyRebecca

I wonder if Alexis is still using the Cowloon figurehead?

The end is nigh!

Annabel was obviously unable to change Than's desires but I still think she intentionally did nothing to ACTUALLY stop Miriam and C.A.P.I. for “Than's own good”. Than may forgive her at some point, but I'm not really sure if it'll happen any time soon…
