R6 will feature an upgrade to the battle system to allow companions to fight alongside you, in this release you will be able to have only Liliruca.

You will not have control over their actions, but much like monsters, they will decide the actions to take each turn based on their class (For instance, Liliruca is a supporter).

As a supporter, Liliruca will have a different behaviour when compared to someone like Welf Crozzo: While Welf would favor the attacking of a monster in full health, unless a wounded monster is up in the next turn, she will target only wounded monsters, even at the cost of skipping a few turns.

A possible alternative that I might implement later, or in future releases, is to make Liliruca analyze the situation and consider postponing after your turn instead, in case you wound a monster she can finish off for you.

Monsters are rather simple creatures, and as such they work on a classic aggro system (the more damage you deal, the more likely it is they will target you).

Liliruca understands this so she will simply finish off the creatures that survived your attacks, and always do her best to not get the monsters' attention.
As a supporter she will also take care of your party's wounds, with you being the priority, and even use misc items when they will be made available to make the battle easier for you.

Classes are only a general template: Each companion will have their unique behaviour based also on your progress in the main storyline... Welf Crozzo will never use magic items until you get far enough in the storyline, whereas Liliruca will make use of magic items only in real critical situations at first.
They will also be taking care of themselves without consuming your items, but you also have the choice to support them (such as using your potion on them) if you so choose.

While it is a little of an odd choice, I wanted to make sure you'd always feel like "you" are fighting alongside your companions instead of you fighting as everybody in your party.

As a party leader in a game, it would make sense to be able to control every action of every party member, however there would be too many variables to consider (Liliruca's secret, and Welf's hate for magic items at first) and if you always took the best action, that would go against their character.

Of course they will also gain excelia as you would, but in a much smaller amount (like a normal adventurer would).
Everytime they get hit they will gain some endurance, everytime they deal damage they will gain some strength, and so on.

This feature will be "invisible" for a while since Soma will not be updating her status, and she will not get any until she joins Hestia. That includes the excelia she will get during the story (slapped around by Killer Ants) and possible excelia she had before meeting Bell.

In future, when companions will have joined Hestia, their status will be updated at the same time as yours.
