The 1830s were an exciting time for science. All throughout Europe, there was a great movement to explore, map, and classify the world. And it was this expanding world that young Charles Darwin graduated into… albeit with the wrong degree. Because although he would one day be known as “the Father of Modern Biology,” Darwin’s father was set on his son following in his footsteps—as a doctor.

I like the episode But took a while to watch the video

Now all we need is a full life of Darwin so we can argue over natural selection or intelligent creation.

The Rogue Chief

Throw in the implications of Darwin’s theory expressed through Social Darwinism, and the intellectual debate which came to a head in the Skopes Monkey Trial, and you got yourself a video series!

I feel conflicted, on one hand I'm a scientist and I like seeing videos about scientists. On the other hand... Darwin is more of a history topic than an "Extra History" topic. More has been written about him than about any scientist. Literally everyone knows about him. I feel like it's very different from the early formula of "let's talk about things you didn't learn in history classes"

Ryan Wojciechowski

I am in love, I literally suggested a series on Darwin in the last poll and here it is! Yay!

Ryan Wojciechowski

I'm on the same boat so I'm hoping, that in true EH fashion, they spend more time talking about what his research was (ex. flinch beaks, tortoise shells, etc.) then his actual life which is definitely documented to an extravagant amount. I also know they'll need to mention Alfred Wallace somewhere lol

Personally I love the general more thematic "lets tell an in unheard history story" like the seminal catastrophe (ww1) being a prime example
