We know how much the community has been looking forward to a physical, hold-in-your-hands edition of the Extra History cards we've been producing since the start of 2018. Therefore, we are ecstatic to announce that:

they are real
we have held them ourselves with our own hands
Extra History Collectible Cards are coming to our online merch store on Thursday, October 3, for a limited time!

This photograph is of a test-print set in Zolaire's possession. This set was produced on standard smooth paper, but the purchasable version will be produced on high-quality linen stock paper.

What's in it?

This limited-edition set of 45 high-quality, linen-paper cards catalogues names, facts, and quips about the people, locations, and ideas we explore in Extra History. A perfect gift for students and aficionados of world history, or for fans of the weekly Extra History animated show! Includes the following series:

Packaging: shrinkwrap (comes with a small plastic storage bag).

How much will it cost?

The list price will be $30 USD on our online merch store. Because $3+ tier patrons receive a monthly 15% off discount for our store (which changes on the 1st day of each month), the price for patrons is $25.50 USD. This is extremely close to the actual at-cost, break-even price point per set.

When will it be available? When will it NOT be available?

The product page will open in the early morning hours (USA time) on Thursday, October 3 (there will be a post on Patreon).

The product page will be closed end-of-day Wednesday, November 13. This set of physical cards will NOT be available for purchase after this six-week period ends.

During this time, you can pre-order the cards, but they will not ship until after the period ends. On November 14, our merch folks at DFTBA will process the final order numbers, and the sets of cards will be shipped out in mid-late November. We picked these dates so that everyone who buys a set should be able to have it in time for the winter holidays (including international customers).

Will there be more cards in the future?

By producing this particular set, we are fulfilling a promise made to patrons regarding the physical version of the digital "trading cards" that highlight (almost all) Extra History episodes published in 2018 (with the exception of the Sir Robert Walpole bonus card, which is from 2015). As a creative team, our top priority has and always will be the YouTube videos themselves; extra artist time and resources have not frequently been on our side when it comes to cool merchandise ideas we'd like to pursue. In the future, you'll hear about new Extra History products from us when they are at 90-100% completion.

So, who knows what will happen later? We had a lot of fun making these (especially those bonus cards!) and would be happy to do more in the future, if y'all love these as much as we do.

A note about digital cards for the Inca Empire series: We will not be posting a digital card set for this current series due to the fact that we had a guest artist (Jordan Martin) as well as because our video scheduling needs around PAX West had to prioritize giving our other artists some well-deserved time off.
