Juniper And Sage

Just a heads up- the pixeldrain video isn't the usual picture-in-picture video.

I must say that I'm enjoying the colours your watch has brought to this rewatch for me. It's been many a year since I first watched this show and good lord I'm seeing this with eyes anew. I would say something profound but I think anything I say would be redundant as everything that needs to be said has been said.

Yes, the conversation in a cave! Ginko said that he would find a goal when he wants a break and I found it interesting, considering that in many anime (especially shonen) the goal is what underpins the motivation and what makes the characters push themselves through difficult circumstances (just as Koro assumes by seeing Ginko traveling around without enough food). A life with goals. Objectives. Purposes. Why do we want them so much? Why can we not live for the sake of living, in a similar way that Kouda just appears and exists without any purposes? For some reason it seems to be painful and exhausting for us humans, even Ginko to an extent, to be completely free from purposes. Maybe because it provokes more complicated questions such as “why do we exist?”, or because it triggers our fear towards “infinitely large amount of time before us”. I know it gives us a sense of assurance by thinking something like “my family is the reason I live” or “I dedicate my life to this work” but I do not know why it does what it does. An extreme case of this is “I would rather keep shooting for an unachievable, impossible goal instead of living my life without purposes”. As I see Koro explains that he couldn’t help chasing rainbows, I can imagine it was, at least partially, the purpose for the sake of purpose. This may sound quite irrational but also makes grounded sense to me.

Im watching along with you, teaboo, and it's so interesting that you gleam quite different things than i gleam from each episode, and i bet there could be numerous yet different interpretations.

Hhh hit 'enter' too fast, so another thing: i love that third dude under the tree in the beginning. Hes kind of being meta when he says the ending is weak, he would probably wanna watch a different anime series with a less abstract concept and plot XD
