Here's some quick and hopefully helpful spoiler-free info to make thigs clear: The Emperor of Britannia is Lelouch's father, so technically Lelouch is a prince but he left the royal family. The Emperor was hooking up with lots of women so Lelouch has a lot of half siblings (same dad, different mom) like Prince Clovis, Prince Schneizel and Princess Cornelia (latter two were briefly mentioned but haven't appeared yet). Lelouch's only fully biological sibling is Nunnally. Everyone from the royal family has Britannia in their last name, for example Clovis la Britannia, Schneizel el Britannia and Cornelia li Britannia. Lelouch's real name is Lelouch Vi Britannia but he now utilizes a fake name Lelouch Lamperouge because of his hatred towards Britannia's tyranny and the royal family.

I really appreciate the fact that you take your time to rewatch the scenes, take notes, and try to fully understand what's going on. Thank you, love your reactions.

"Lelouch's only biological sibling is Nunnally." That is factually incorrect lol, all of his half siblings are his biological siblings just not full blooded siblings.

Lelouch isnt the same as Light Yagami. Light was the villain disguised as the Hero. While Lelouch is kind of the opposite. You will understand more of what I mean as you watch the show.

Yeah, a lot of that about the royal family will be revealed later. I'd also add that Lelouch uses a fake name also to hide his identity as a prince(how he left will be explained later, so won't spoil unless I'm missing if they mentioned it briefly before). But yeah keeping his previous identity a secret at school is a good idea to not attract a lot of attention.

Considering I've watched both Death Note and Code Geass series a few times at least each, there are some very interesting similarities with the characters, but they are definitely different characters, with different ideals, in different stories. I think there is one very important aspect of Lelouch and Light that make them different, but I won't say more to not spoil until we get to those episodes.

You can see the difference simply in the fact that Light pretends to be able to feel empathy for other people to blend in society as "normal" while in reality he has no issue murdering literally anyone while Lelouch pretends to be a cold blooded killer and killed his brother Clovis but then the next day he literally vomited in the bathroom thinking about what he did

I definitely agree that Light as Kira really doesn't care about feeling empathy for others, and is very easy to see when his family's lives were in danger, and also in the final episode. I would argue that Light (not Kira), as in when his memories of the Death Note were forgotten for those few episodes, he did have empathy for other's lives, and I don't think he was lying in those moments. The Death Note brought out the worst in him, as he indeed did still have evil thoughts as a 'good' Light(non Kira), but wasn't given the power to act on those thoughts. One thing I'll mention too is the Death Note gives Light the power to indirectly kill a lot of people, but I don't think at one point in the show he ever killed someone with a gun, despite there likely being many times he could have, with his interactions with the police. I am curious if Light has the ability to directly shoot someone, which puts all blame on himself, without a possible thing to blame being the Death Note. As for Lelouch, since his power of Geass doesn't directly kill people, but instead manipulates them to follow a command, it's always interesting to see how he uses it each time. But yes, Lelouch was willing to kill Clovis by his own hands, and had trouble realizing it later. (I just thought of another interesting thing I could mention about Lelouch and his Geass, but I'll save it for another time.)

I think Light always had kinda sociopathic tendencies with his "the world is rotten" ideas and not having any trouble murdering people (even if they were criminals) in the beginning, and the Death Note kinda just speedran his unavoidable spiraling to becoming a straight up sociopath with a God complex. Whereas Lelouch shows clear signs of emotional attachments and swings in his mental wellbeing due to the fact that he has empathy, but I won't go further on that due to spoiler territory
