No need for an intro this week, let’s just jump right into the update! 🙂

Bloodlust: Lanessa - Blood Crown -- Miro wants to include some stills with this month’s Bloodlust update again, so as you all suggested last month, we’re going to run the update in a separate post later this week.

Blender General -- We’ve added a couple new animations to the list of currently-in-progress animations. That would have brought us up to six total in-progress, but two animations have recently gone on hold, so we’re still at four. (The artists working on those two animations had to drop because of commitment issues, so we may end up cancelling those later if there isn’t an opportunity to pass them to another artist.) Anyway, with those developments we’re not quite sure what our next Blender animation will be just yet. There is a walk cycle animation in the works but it’s still early stages.

Blender Animation AA03 -- The animator assigned to this clip completed his work so we’ll be releasing a version of it without voice this week. Miro would also like to do a little polishing on this one, so we’ll try to release a second version of this later when he has time to work on it. We’ll hold off on voiceover until the second version is ready.

CyPunk 1000 Patrons Vaginal Sex Animation -- Now that this clip is rendering, miro has estimated that the finished version will be complete around the end of September. This is due to the clip being heavier than normal, with 1 frame taking about 30 minutes to render, versus the usual 10-15 minutes per frame we’ve seen with other animations. We have a render artist making some optimizations to speed things up a bit, but the animation will need to be rendered multiple times to create the final, finished animation. Given how much longer this is than usual, we’ll share a preview before it’s finished so you guys can see.

Flying High Image Set -- There’s just a few images left in part 8 to complete, so hopefully we can post this one next week. Part 9 is coming along at a good pace with the new trial artist. Just based on where things are at currently, we’re thinking part 10 (the final) will take a little longer, but we’ll update you when we know more.

Good lord, that render time on Cyberpunk. Hope nobody trips over a cable in the process. 😬 How long is the runtime on it by chance?

Glen Ponder

30 days x 24 hours x 60 minutes ÷ 60 fpm ÷ 30 minutes rendering per frame = 24 minutes! Well, nah, probably not :)

IBT

24 minutes for a single uninterrupted run with no errors. 12 minutes for a 2x render for backups. 8 minutes for a 3x render. It's probably going to be closer to 1-2 minutes, but the as mentioned multiple renders is loading up the render time needed for production. Take into account inevitable render time inefficiencies (it's never "perfect") and you can easily have a 6x render for 2 minutes of animation consume all of the rest of the month, especially if there's any more QA that needs to be done resulting in needed corrections and re-rendering with updates.

IBT

Does this mean that for AA03 you want a serious critique upon video only release to incorporate into the "little polishing" the animation receives prior to adding voice work to it?

If it's taking roughly a decade to render a 1 minute clip I weep for Bloodlust render times.

I see there hasn't been much news on the renpy game adaptations of past sets? Is that dead in the water? I would have thought that was a pretty low hanging fruit for you guys.

TheGreatCornholio

I don't know what day is for your, but for me a week has almost passed from September and still no update for Bloodlust Lanessa. Awesome stuff guys. You never disappoint :D.

Definitely not dead in the water, but currently I (Marie) am the only one on staff who knows the process for building one at the moment, so I need to get a guide setup so another staff member can take over since I'm a bit too spread out all over the company to build all of them. My plan at present is to finish Love Bite and create the guide at the same time. We'll need to get a programmer involved to to get the android and web versions working, as those both proved to be beyond my programming capacity. But I'll see about getting an ETA on Love Bite PC and Mac versions worked out by next week. Just need to check in with SilkyMilk to see what her availability is. -Marie

Thanks for the reply and info. Seeing the massive content drought that's going on (sorry, but I don't consider short blender clips with generic chars to be real affect3d content) I would have thought the VNs would have been an easy stop gap solution. Please don't also hold them back because of android or extra stuff like voice acting. Once you have a script just make the game with the pictures/videos you already have and launch it. Mobile versions and voice acting can always be added afterwards.

That's a good point. We could probably push versions with just text and music out fairly quickly. The voice and sound effects are where things get pretty technical in terms of both code and audio editing software, and with that more time consuming. I'll get to work on this. Thanks! -Marie

Thank you, I'm happy to hear that. I was really excited by the short demo for Love Bites and that's a set without much plot so to say. Can't imagine how cool some of the more complex sets like Cyberpunk and Lady in the Tower will be with some dialogue and narration attached. A little story can go a really long way.

That's not Miro. Otherwise they'd be speaking about themselves in the third person. Would be a little weird, right?
