It was kinda funny and foreshadowing when you said Prue looking at artwork was "reminiscent of her old life" talking about her job at bucklands but it was connecting her past life as a photographer, are you psychic 🤭. Such a good episode! Like I told you, the 2nd half of s2 is the strongest and so so good! Sad we won't get any more episodes for a week or so but I get it, damn holidays 😂

My personal take on the 'past life' concept here is to make a distinction between 'soul' and 'essence' - they have the same essence that rebuilds itself in newer generations. I see it as kind of the reverse of Time Lords - instead of being made of new stuff but with the same identity, the witches are made of the same stuff but with new identities. That's how I deal with the idea of them having a past life as one of their own ancestors - if they were the same person as their great-grandmother, for example, that would be kind of sad, repetitive, lonely. Like learning your time-travelling guide and only friend is actually your future self. The gain makes for a pretty echo. Reminds me of Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper.
