A Good Day to Die- Thank you so, so much for your reaction for this phenomenal episode!! A Good Day to Die is another of my absolute favorite episodes within this season and throughout the entire show just like the previous episode... Love Handles. I love them!! :) This episode is just so beautiful and heartbreaking, especially because we really see Lucifer's heartbreak. Not only coming from the risk of losing the woman he's fallen in love with to death, but also upon him realizing just how far his mother, father, and brother have all gone to manipulate him for their own gain. And the pain we see on Lucifer's face and in his eyes all throughout this episode is heartbreaking, and really quite beautiful too. Once again... Tom Ellis does a phenomenal job at showing us exactly how his character is feeling, especially in showing us his anger and his pain. I absolutely love it!!! And I love him! :) I can't really say there's anything within this episode that I didn't like about it. Every scene was solid and important to the overall storyline being shared, and everyone's acting was top notch. If I had to say what the weakest scene might be, it would be the scene between Dan, and Ella and her brother in the chop shop. However, I love this scene too because it shows how much Ella and Dan are both willing to risk in order to save their friend. Plus... we get introduced to Ella's brother too, which gives us a little more insight into her character that explains why she used to have a darker side to her, back when she used to steal cars. I love the scene between Lucifer and Amenadiel, when Amenadiel arrives at the precinct at his brother's behest, only for Lucifer to suddenly slam hos brother into the wall as he threatens him to tell him the truth about how far his manipulation with making Chloe has gone. It's so sad hearing Lucifer ask his brother if her poisoning is a part of their father's plans for him, to which Amenadiel answers no. That he had no idea she was going to get sick. And it's absolutely heartbreaking how Lucifer then defeatedly asks, "So... you can't help her then?" I am grateful that Amenadiel then apologizes to his brother upon understanding that Chloe is dying. I also really enjoy seeing Lucifer and Dan work together again once Chloe becomes too weak to continue working her own investigation and is forced to remain in the hospital. I love how Lucifer gives his word to Dan that he won't do anything like he would normally do, without Dan's permission. And as we know, Lucifer's word is his bond just like he tells Dan so. Unfortunately, when they confront the smuggler so they can try to get a list Dr. Carlyle's poison ingredients from him, Dan gets offended too easily when the smuggler says some nasty things about letting his ex wife die, causing him to react like Lucifer would have in the past. And in doing so, the smuggler and his gang use handcuffs to lock Dan and Lucifer up in chairs while the criminals beat them. But because Lucifer's been keeping his cool, they only beat up Dan, while Lucifer remains calm like he promised he would. It isn't until he shows Dan he can easily escape, that Dan gives him permission to break his word and to react how he needs to in order to get them out of this situation fast. And Lucifer is easily able to beat these men up, then uncuffs Dan to set him free as well. However, Lucifer is also smart enough to know that torture would take too long to convince the smuggler to give them the list of ingredients, so Lucifer makes a deal with him instead, and therefore is forced to buy one of the criminal's ugly mermaid/clown paintings for himself and to lie by saying that he likes it, which is exactly what the smuggler wanted... for someone to buy one of his paintings because they like it and not because they wish to use them to continue smuggling their drugs through them. And while this one small gesture might not seem like such a big deal to most people, for Lucifer to do this... to lie and to enter into a deal that he actually hates is really big for him. And this is hardly the biggest gesture he makes for Chloe's sake. Which brings me to what I absolutely love most about this episode... I absolutely love how Lucifer suddenly come sot understand the kind of sacrifice he must make to save Chloe's life upon his mother reminding him that the man who hurt her is now down in Hell suffering for all eternity. He then vigorously tells his mother that all he has to do to save Chloe, is to die so that he can return to Hell and talk with Carlyle himself. And Lucifer doesn't even hesitate, which shows just how far he is willing to go to save her. It shows just how much he truly and deeply loves Chloe too, whether she's been a part of him being manipulated all along or not. Lucifer has no idea if Chloe really cares about him or not because he doesn't know if her feelings for him are real in return. However, Lucifer's feelings for Chloe are very real and even if he were to find out that she was manipulating him like everyone else, Lucifer would still risk his life for her anyways. And that's incredible. For anyone to call Lucifer the Devil or a monster like the entire world and most of his brothers and sisters believe about him, and like he believes about himself... How wrong they are. Now... I love the next scene between Lucifer, Amenadiel, Maze, Charlotte, and or course Linda... the only one among them who isn't a celestial or supernatural being. I love that Lucifer invites Linda to be a part of their circle so she can help him through this the way he's always been grateful to her for helping him. Only in this case... Linda is also there because she has the medical training needed to help bring him back from the dead once someone else kills him and he succeeds in getting the formula needed to save Chloe. At first... everyone objects to Lucifer's plan to die so he can return to Hell. However, I love how Lucifer explains his plan more thoroughly, then declares he is going to do this with or without anyone's help because he is determined to save Chloe no matter the sacrifice. Which is what eventually brings Amenadiel, Maze, and Linda around to agreeing to help him. Besides, they all care about Chloe too and know they can't let her die if there's anything they can do to save her. Unfortunately, or perhaps even fortunately, the Goddess of all Creation refuses to help, not wanting to help her son to become trapped in Hell again for all eternity, and then leaves after trying to convince Amenadiel to come with her, until he refuses when he tells her he's going to stay to help his brother. I love the lightheartedness throughout this scene as well. While they're all facing a very dire situation, Lucifer is still able to be his usual smug and charming self, and once he tells Linda that she's there to revive him after he dies, which is a complete shock to her as we then see on her face in that moment, Lucifer then turns to Maze and his brother and asks which of them wants to kill him. And both of them cheekily raise their hands because the truth is... Lucifer has been a pain in the butt towards both of them in the past. And of course Lucifer just scoffs and shrugs it off, not taking any hard feelings towards them being eager to kill him. Upon arriving at the hospital again, I like the brief moment between Lucifer and Dan again when Lucifer tells Dan to hurry and finish collecting the ingredients needed for the antidote, then assures him that he's going to get the formula. In the meantime... Maze and Linda are making their way to the room that is directly beneath Chloe's room above, where they plan to put their plan in motion, knowing this is the only room where Lucifer can be where he will remain close enough to Chloe to keep him vulnerable and killable. And Maze and Linda then begin setting things up for Lucifer. I love the scene between Lucifer and Amenadiel just before Lucifer goes down to his room to meet up with Linda and Maze, as Lucifer then asks his brother to look after Chloe for him and to make sure that she cannot be moved so long as he remains dead. Once again... Lucifer's humor and smugness is very much there while they talk, and I love it. It's hilarious when Lucifer questions Amenadiel about him wanting him to remain dead, to which Amenadiel simply raises an eyebrow like he's almost okay with the idea, to which Lucifer retorts that his question was a rhetorical question. I absolutely love their brotherly banter now that they really have become brothers again, in ways they've never been before in their entire lives through all of existence so far. A very, very, very long time. Finally, Amenadiel wishes Lucifer good luck, after assuring him he won't let the doctors move Chloe once Lucifer reminds Amenadiel he is the most bullheaded person he's ever known and that if anyone can keep Chloe in that room, it's him. Next... I also love the short moment between Lucifer and Chloe just after Dan steps away to give them a few minutes to talk before they leave to continue their investigation, when Chloe asks him to have someone bring her daughter in and then asks him how she looks, afraid that her appearance might frighten Trixie. I love how Lucifer then honestly answers, "You look Heaven sent.", which we know a part of him meant it as a jab at how he had been manipulated by his father and how he believes Chloe had been created to be used to manipulate him further. However, you can also see in Lucifer's eyes that he truly meant his words to her because in his eyes, she really is beautiful no matter what her appearance is. And I love this. :) Finally... Lucifer is preparing himself to die with Linda's help, while Maze prepares the defibrillator paddles so she can shock his heart enough to kill him. Linda questions once more why she agreed to help kill him, to which Lucifer reminds her that she's killing him because she wants to help save Chloe's life almost as much as he does. Then... I love how Linda immediately and firmly responds that she also cares about him too and that she's afraid she won't be able to bring him back. And then... when Maze suddenly freezes up and realizes she can't kill Lucifer like she believed she could, realizing just how much she really does care about him too, Lucifer suddenly grabs the charged paddles away from her and bravely kills himself, once again without any hesitation. He's determined to save Chloe. I absolutely love, love, love this scene!! :) At last... Lucifer has arrived down in Hell once more and as he slowly wakes up and finds himself right where he expected to be, he immediately begins to search the world for the right door where Lucifer will find Dr. Carlisle trapped behind, in his eternal torment which Lucifer later explains to him is manifested from his guilt after all the horrible things he's done and pain he's caused so many people while alive. I really love seeing Lucifer back again in Hell just because I love the dark look and its design, and simply the eeriness of the world Lucifer fears and hates so much. Thankfully, Lucifer is able to find the right door after quite some time spent down there searching, I suspect. And when he finally confronts Carlisle, we see the doctor is trapped reliving the worst moment of his life over and over... the moment he left the innocent student to die while he risked his life to save his life's work instead of the student. Lucifer then explains this to Carlisle and says that Hell has added a little flare to his torture, which includes Carlisle being tortured over and over by the people surrounding him as they call him names such as monster, murderer, killer, etc... Lucifer then explains to Carlisle that since becoming the infamous torturer he's become upon being forced to become the Devil, he's seen people tormented for eternity without ever being able to pull themselves out of their suffering, because no one has ever been able to let go of their guilt. And this proves to be so for Carlisle as well, when Lucifer offers him a chance to relieve some of his guilt so long as the doctor gives him the formula that will save Chloe, which thankfully Carlisle does. However, doing so does nothing to relieve his guilt in the slightest. And Lucifer walks away pleased to see that this is so because he's proud that the doctor is finally getting his just desserts. However, he doesn't walk away without suddenly showing Carlisle his Devil face just for good measure. Absolutely brilliant! Like you... I love this scene too. Once he's left the doctor's Hell loop, Lucifer takes a moment to memorize the formula given to him, then calls out to those he hopes are still fighting to save him on Earth, asking for his resurrection. However, before he walks away, he strangely hears piano music coming from another of the rooms and he is then drawn to the room like he's become caught in a trance. I love that the song being played to draw him into the room behind the door is Killing Me Softly, especially when we see who it is there playing the music because we know just how much guilt Lucifer suffers from having been the one forced to kill him. None other than Uriel. And I was so happy and excited to see him again, even though I was terrified for Lucifer because I knew what was about to happen to him was going to be so bad. And bad is certainly an understatement. In another of my favorite scenes throughout this episode, Lucifer is shocked to see his brother he had killed again, and at first, he believes that Uriel didn't actually get wiped out of all existence upon being stabbed with Azrael's blade like he initially believed. Unfortunately, Uriel goes on to explain that he's only inside Lucifer's mind... a manifestation of Lucifer's guilt that he's about to suffer from within his own personal Hell loop. I absolutely love that seeing Uriel back again and as Lucifer's own torment, reminds us just how guilt ridden Lucifer still is from having killed his brother some time ago. And sadly, Lucifer then continues to be forced to kill Uriel, over and over again, causing so much pain for Lucifer. These scenes between Lucifer and Uriel are heartbreaking and so well acted once again by the both of them. I really feel the emotion and the heartbreak Lucifer feels upon having to keep killing stabbing his brother like this, as well as the eeriness and guilt that his manifestation of Uriel is forcing upon Lucifer. In Chloe's room... Amenadiel and Trixie share an adorable scene together as well, when Trixie walks into the room to find him watching over her mother, then asks him who he is. I love how he tells her that he's Lucifer's brother and that he's there because Lucifer asked him to look after her mother for him while he was busy trying to save Chloe. And Trixie is so cute how she states he's like a guardian angel, then compliments him on his necklace, to which he simply replies he likes hers as well. And then... Trixie sadly asks Amenadiel why there are so many bad people in the world, and he then answers that he doesn't know, but he assures her that he believes there are more good people in this world like those who are fighting to save her mother. And I love how Trixie then kindly asks, "Like you?", which surprises Amenadiel because we can see in his eyes he's really not sure if he's as good as he used to believe he was since becoming a fallen angel, but he then kneels down in front of her as he answers her that he's trying to be a good man. And Amenadiel is a good man. Just like Lucifer is. Both of them have just lost sight of this. I love that Trixie believes him to be, then shows him so when she hugs Amenadiel. So adorable. :) Meanwhile... Maze and Linda are fighting madly to bring Lucifer back as Linda shocks his heart again and again with the paddles to revive him. But when she fails to do so, you can see the fear and pain in Linda's eyes, as well as the fear in them too, because they believe they've failed to save him. I love how Maze then explains to Linda why she wishes to go down to Hell to save Lucifer and yet she can't do so because as a demon... she has no soul and therefore when she dies, she would just die. I also love how Linda then volunteers to be the one to go down to Hell to save him instead, while Maze demands that she's not to risk her life out of concern for her friend. Now, as for Charlotte returning and being willing to risk her own life to bring her son back from Hell upon seeing and hearing that he's become trapped behind his own door... Like I've said before, I do believe that Charlotte does love her son. That she loves all of her sons and you can clearly see so when she finally makes the sacrifice for Lucifer to go down to Hell to save him herself. You can most definitely see her sincerity in her eyes and through her actions. However, you also ought to remember, that Charlotte's plan to get back into Heaven rests solely on Lucifer. And therefore... she needs him alive. And I do believe that there is also a big part of her who is willing to face her fears to save her son, just so that she will be able to continue manipulating him into helping her. So while what's to come for Charlotte is sad and I do feel bad for her when Lucifer's guilt comes to be her own as well, I still can't feel bad for her anywhere close to how much I feel bad for Lucifer. Because I don't believe she's completely sincere in her motivations to save him. Once Charlotte enters Lucifer's door to his own Hell loop and walks into the room designed to look like his penthouse above LUX, which I absolutely love too... she watches as Lucifer stabs Uriel again and listens to him scream upon doing so. Carefully, she approaches her son while she begins to try to remind him that all of this is just his guilt trying to keep him in Hell for all eternity. However, Lucifer is struggling so deeply with his torment, that he stabs Uriel once again while he collapses against his brother in defeat. Charlotte then grabs hold of her son and continues to talk him out of his guilt, all while she slowly begins to reveal the truth to Lucifer that she has been manipulating him from the moment she came back into his life the closer she gets to the manifestation of her other son. You can then see the hurt in Lucifer's eyes transfer from him being tormented by his own guilt, to being even more hurt upon hearing his mother confess she's been using him by feeding on his anger towards his father so she can fuel it hotter than ever before, and that she also helped Lucifer by pushing him to get together with Chloe, only so she could crush his heart once she revealed the truth about how his father put Chloe into his path on purpose by creating her to get him to fall in love with her and to make him vulnerable, and that Chloe's feelings for Lucifer aren't real. However, in spite of feeling betrayed by his mother once again, Lucifer fights through his pain upon seeing Charlotte begin to feel her own guilt through Uriel's manifestation, when Uriel begins to ask her how she could abandon him before, and begged her not to abandon him again, as Lucifer then grabs hold of his mother and drags her to the elevator to force her to leave so they can both be revived. Which brings me to another of my absolute favorite moments... when Lucifer is finally brought back to life on Linda's final attempt to revive him with the defibrillator, all while the song, Unsteady... sung by music artists, X Ambassadors... is playing throughout such a beautiful montage, beginning with Amenadiel in Chloe's room above Lucifer's as he's fighting off the doctors, nurses, and security officers to keep them from moving Chloe from the room even though they fighting to save her life as well. Lucifer is finally resurrected and he immediately struggles through his pain from being dead and trapped in Hell as he gets out of his bed to make his way through the hospital to get back to Chloe and Amenadiel. And then... Lucifer appears behind his brother and I absolutely love how Amenadiel looks at his brother with such relief upon seeing he's made it back in spite of looking so ill, then how Amenadiel gently reaches out to lay his hand down on his brother's shoulder to welcome him back before stepping aside to give him room to turn to Chloe. Also... Linda then revives Charlotte as well, as she awakens after the first shock to her chest. All of these moments within this montage is done so beautifully. I get chills every time. I absolutely love seeing that Lucifer is willing to sacrifice everything for Chloe. So phenomenal and just beautiful. :) Another of my favorite moments... I love the ending between Lucifer and Chloe when she wakes up at last and sees Lucifer once again sitting at her bedside waiting for her to wake up. I love how he teases her about how she didn't die after all, then how that makes only one of them, since he did literally die in order to save her. So cute. If only she knew just how much he's just sacrificed for her. Because I doubt anyone's explained to her just how far Lucifer went to save her life. Not that Dan or Ella would know, and no doubt Amenadiel, Linda, Maze, and Charlotte will keep Lucifer dying to return to Hell for her a secret meant to remain just between them. But more so... I love how Chloe reaches out to take his hands into her own as she tells him that she's been told he had saved his life, and Lucifer thinks about the others who helped him and gives them the credit they all deserve by telling Chloe it had been a team effort. I love how she thanks him anyways. However, there's more behind his eyes than just relief upon seeing Chloe was going to be okay again. You can also still see the pain behind his eyes as he looks down briefly at her hand that takes his, then as he looks at her once again because we know that he's struggling very deeply with the revelation and his fear that her feelings for him might not be real. Especially when she then goes on to remind him that all of this has put a pause on their developing relationship before all of this happened, and asks him if they can pick things up with them where they left off. Instead, Lucifer just smiles at her sadly and stands up to walk away from her while telling her lovingly that she just needs to focus on feeling better. Chloe then asks him to have someone bring Trixie back in to see her while he pulls his hand away from her grasp, and he assures her he will. Chloe once again expresses she hopes to talk with him about them and their feelings, only for Lucifer to look down at her sadly before finally just walking away from her once and for all. leaving her alone. He can't actually answer her, because anything he would want to say to her would be a lie, and you can see in this moment he doesn't intend to talk to her about their relationship. And you can absolutely see the pain in his eyes, because he can't believe that she truly cares about him as much as he longs for her to. The way he so desperately loves her too. It's so, so heartbreaking. And finally... comes my final favorite moment. I love Lucifer's confrontation again with his mother in the end once he leaves the hospital, when Charlotte attempts to ask him how Chloe's doing, to which he simply answers her that she's going to be fine. And unfortunately... she goes on to rub salt in his wounds so to speak, when she then asks about the two of them and if he's going to keep trying to be with her. And finally... Lucifer lets out his anger towards his mother that he's kept back since she told him the truth about Chloe being one of his father's miracles. And also the emotion from his pain as he reminds his mother that Chloe's feelings for him were never real, then goes on to express his pain upon having fallen for his father's manipulation upon bringing Chloe into his life. Sadly... Charlotte only continues to hurt him even more deeply as she continues to try to urge him to help her to punish his father for doing this to him, to which Lucifer angrily says he plans to do just that, then asks her how he trust anything or anyone, now that he knows his mother has been the one behind his pain. It breaks my heart every time when he then states how she's even worse than his father because as far as he knows, God doesn't at least pretend to love him like he believed his mother did until now. Charlotte grabs hold of his arm to keep him from walking away from her as she tries to convince him he's wrong and that she does love him by reminding Lucifer that she returned to Hell and faced her fears of that place for him. And like I said above, I believe that she does love him as much as she's capable of. However, Charlotte is also a very selfish woman, who will hurt both of her sons to get everything she wants. And Lucifer knows this now, so he only scoffs out of disbelief and retorts that her efforts to help him are too late. She's already broken his heart just like she wanted to do. She's succeeded. So, now he's done. Done being a pawn caught in the middle of his parents' feud. Then, he finally just walks away, leaving Charlotte standing all alone. A small part of me feels badly for the Goddess. However, it's Lucifer that I feel bad for the most. And I can't blame him for feeling so hurt and for being so angry with his mother. He's absolutely right. Right not to believe that she won't keep trying to manipulate him and to hurt him further if he were to forgive her again like he's done before. Charlotte has pushed him too far and has broken his heart. And he's not willing to let her keep doing so any longer. So heartbreaking. Also... upon seeing just how far Charlotte has gone to manipulate Lucifer and that she's willing to hurt him so deeply like she has, it makes me think back to the moment in the end of episode two... Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress on Fire... when Charlotte tells Lucifer that it was her who pleaded with God to send him to Hell as punishment instead, because he had wanted to obliterate him from all existence. And then we see her look up into Heaven as she smiles smugly at her husband. I now absolutely believe she had lied to Lucifer about this too. I have no doubt that Charlotte did absolutely nothing to protect her son back then from being cast into Hell, considering how much she fears Hell and the risk of being cast there herself should she make God angry enough. That she had only told Lucifer this in order to get him to forgive her until now. And this makes me hate the Goddess all the more. And yet I still love to hate her because she makes for such a phenomenal villain within this show even though there is a part of her who loves her sons. And lastly... once Chloe is finally released from the hospital, she's seen in her car driving while leaving a voicemail on Lucifer's phone, telling him she's on her way over to see him so they can finally talk about them like she told him she wanted to do while still in the hospital. However, the moment the elevator opens and walks inside his home, Chloe is shocked to find white sheets covering all of his furniture and his piano, revealing that Lucifer has left. The question is... where has he gone? So sad, because Lucifer and Chloe were so close to being in a relationship at last! Agh!!! So heartbreaking. :( Thank you very much for your reaction for this absolutely phenomenal episode, that is one of my very favorites, Liam!! I was so happy to get this notification. This episode and my other favorites are just one of the reasons why I love this phenomenal show so much. That... and because I love Tom Ellis, like I've said many times. I absolutely love his humor and charisma, but even more so... I love the emotion Tom Ellis brings into his character. And we see so much throughout this episode. I’ve been waiting for this episode! I am quite new to the show too, binging it all before season 5 arrived. I was enjoying it, but it was this episode that really made me realise how invested I now was in the characters and all their dynamics. Everyone has a part to play in saving Chloe and it really showcases the cast / characters. That montage near the end as Lucifer is trying to get back is just superb use of a song in a television series. It’s so well done, but the highlight to me is always Amenadiel standing his ground in that doorway to keep his promise to Lucifer. Great reaction.

Still playing catch up with you. I am so enjoying re-watching my most favourite Tv series ever all over again but seeing it through your eyes. I've watched you become invested in these characters and their journeys and love how you also understand and deeply feel the emotional traumas that play out in front of us. I think although I loved the song choices in season one, it was in this season that I fully realised how well the songs were used and how the lyrics fit the scenes and in many cases moved the story forward even without dialogue. Whoever makes the song choices in Lucifer deserves an award. The script writers have taken us on a wonderful journey so far with these cleverly drawn, intriguing characters and made us care about them so much. The story continues and we still have a long way to go... I hope you follow it to the end...the ride is emotional, endearing, laugh out loudable (if that is even a word) but always compelling. Onward with the Lucifans!
