as someone who is adopted that part of the storyline never really sat right with me. I got lucky though cause my mom always told me and my brother we were adopted and was willing to provide any information we could want. I know other people that found out later on and saw how that affected them. Even some that found out they had biological siblings they didn't know about and had always questioned why they lived with gramma and grandpa for awhile. These cases honesty is always the best policy, it's not a white lie. And people always find out even if it's after your (the parents) death. buffy was right, her birthday should just not be celebrated. and that was another real world issue explored with the conversation with buffy and spike how she externalized all her issues on him instead of sharing the responsibility, yeah i'm sure we've all done that once or twice. (I think it's also a bit of hidden resentment for him being the one to show her the truth about riley, since it's not actually something they ever talked about, we just say spike rehearsing an apology but never how him doing that affected their dynamic)

Michelle is just perfect for this role, her performance in the scene where she cut herself never fails to make me cry. That's an unimaginable amount of trauma to process, and she managed to give it the right amount of gravitas. Also her interactions with Spike were a lot of fun, they have a great dynamic. This episode is generally well liked, but my unpopular opinion is that I like it a bit more than Checkpoint.

This season is ramping up storywise. Glory is one of my favourite 'big bads' because of her witty attitude. I'm looking forward to next episode, I can imagine what your reaction would be for it! I've still got to catch up on your Angel reactions first though!

Only have a couple things to mention about this episode. One is that I'm glad that when Spike actually pointed out to Buffy that he had no clue about Dawn being the key so she shouldn't be blaming him for the way Dawn found out about it but that Buffy should take at least some responsibility for it, Buffy did eventually realize he was right. I get she was super frustrated with how the situation went down but like I dont know why she thought Spike of all people would've known when she'd only just told the scoobies that night/ the previous night.

(Accidently made this a separate post woops) And the other thing I wanted to say was just could you imagine Spike's reaction if he would've heard Glory call him Buffy's boyfriend lol. It probably would've made his week haha

Patrick Sullivan

I just have to say... Dawn and Spike as a criminal duo is to die for. They have amazing chemistry in their scenes.

Jarrod Wild

Given that she had just turned 15 around the time of shooting, that's quite a lot for a young actor to pull off.
