Hit the like button before actually seeing the video, 'cause that's how I roll. Well, actually, that's the first time I've EVER done that, but your videos just inspire that kind of love.

I love episodes that involve The Host! Such a unique character!

He is and his interactions with Angel in this episode especially has me wanting more of him especially since this version of Angel and the Host bounce off each other REALLY well!

And yes, that bartender WAS the building supe in "Friends."

Yeah I agree with all your thoughts on this one. The scenes with the Host and Angel are so freaking delightful that even though I don't like this episode overall, I rarely skip it in a rewatch. Also, I'm calling those demons Walmart Gentlemen from now on. If they had given Gene less screen time with his nonsense math, and had reprimanded him for violating his girlfriend (or if it had at least been framed as an inexcusable thing to do), then this ep would have been much much better. I don't really get how Angel and Gene are similar besides both being broody and reckless and... bad at love? I mean I guess Gene freezing his gf is sorta analogous to Angel setting Darla on fire, but she is a soulless murderer and Angel tried his best to save human Darla. And I get that Angel isn't thinking about the future and that's where the "freezing time" motif applies to Angel generally. But, at least where Darla is concerned, Angel is not nearly as much of a piece of shit as Gene is. I wouldn't focus so much on Darla in trying to analyze this episode, except that Angel literally says he relates to Gene because he's a disaster at love. It's very clunky for an episode written by Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt.
