It was perfectly normal for organizations like the Men of Letters and Eastern Star or Masonic Temple, to wear robes & hats (did you ever see 'Peggy Sue Got Married'?), not culty at all. We DEFINITELY like Henry more than Samuel. At least the Samuel who got resurrected. There's a small mythos issue. The first demons created by Lucifer were the whie eyed demons like Lilith & Alistair. We know that from episode 04.21.
