Project Activity Log

Projects now have a global activity log that gives you an overview of what's happening. It's simple right now, and only supports a few events, (Create article, edit article, delete article, join project, leave project). It will be extended with more, richer event types, such as "Move", "Reveal", "Pin", etc.

It'll be verbose at first; we're pondering over ways to aggregate similar activities and filter the feed to find activity relevant to you. If you edit the same event within 20 minutes or so, visually we just update the timestamp rather than spamming the log with edit events.

Events are filtered through the lens of permissions. I'm going to add little helper icons to show you when you are viewing an event that only you can see, etc etc. That'll be part of the permissions enhancements coming soon. Activity for deleted articles is only viewable by the original author of that article.

New Global Search

To give search the treatment it deserves, search has moved to a dedicated drawer on the left. This can be accessed by hitting the magnifying class icon in the bottom left, or by hitting Shift+Cmd/Ctrl+F. This search pane feels a lot better, and has plenty of room to extend search with new features later, such as a "Recently Visited" articles list, or a "Recent Searches" list. You can navigate search results with your keyboard arrows, and you can open results in new tabs by holding down Cmd/Ctrl when you press enter.

Map pin search is going away temporarily. It'll be back and better than ever in a future update.

Both of these features are using prelim designs and will be finalized before open beta.

Archive System Infrastructure

This is not being exposed in this update, but the groundwork has been laid for undoing deletes and summoning articles back from the archive. More on this later.

Various visual tweaks and bug fixes:

  • Map uploads no longer time out at 60 seconds.
  • The pin context menu only presents "Map" as an option if the linked article has a map attached.
  • The "Wiki" option on the pin context menu no longer puts you on the world select screen.

Let me know what you think!
