With this placement the differences in imaging between both speakers become even more obvious with particular tracks. It would seem as if the A28 were playing slightly out of phase between left and right, it sounds definitely more weird than the Nuberts, the A28 seem to be slightliy shifted to the left side.

Am i wrong or are the Imaging differences less obvious with this placement?! Beside that the bass of the A28 is still not as enjoyable as from the SP200. Therefore the Nuberts still are the better choice in my opinion even with the higher Price. Nevertheless i agree with Maurer Stelian regarding the test of less expensive speakers. If Edifier would be a good choice i‘m not quite sure as the models i‘ve listened to at Saturn were not really satisfing for my taste. But i think there are other candidates for the lower price region, for example the Nubert A-125 (pro), the Elac Debut Connex DC841 or the Klipsch R-41PM/R-51PM.

Oluv, do you have some tuning for EFP (1. gen) with no "mesh" cover because I have two units that sound a bit broken now?

Honestly I tried but it didn’t sound the same. It still sounded smoother with the mesh on. I didn’t try to optimise it as the Free Pro 2 was so much better in all regards that I didn’t even want to touch the old Free Pro anymore.

Did you save that "try"? Because they really sound off without the mesh so I'll maby have to figure out some material to replace it... 🤔

I think it’s actually more obvious with this placement, I can hear a distinct shift to the side with the A28 as compared to the SP-200. The Audio Pros sound somehow out of phase. I also remember someone complaining before about his T20 sounding different for left and right speaker and I have experienced the same issue with mine. They both did not sound the same which may result in different imaging properties.
