I already sent Douwe my current settings to get some feedback and wanted to ask if others would like to try them out as well although this would only make sense for those who have a resonance frequency close to mine thus within a range of lets say 5900-6300 maybe 6400 could also work but the father away from 6100 you get the worse it will become and differences of more than 500hz will just not sound good above 3-4khz, below there shouldn’t be much difference but actually the part above is what counts the most.

If you already have a Free Pro 2 and want to try my setting please send me a message. Maybe it can be even improved in the bass region as I was not fully satisfied so far but Douwe already send his suggestion which I will try out tomorrow. I hope I will manage to finish the first approach this week but I am also planning to prepare a tuning next which should resemble the response of the HD800S. I already perceive the sound stage similar with the current tuning, but taking out a bit of mids and boosting mid treble more could sound pretty close to how I perceive the HD800S.

Just to give you a better idea of what is happening with different insertion or ear canal length, my current tuning is optimised for around 6100Hz which you can see as black, shifting it up to 6300Hz in red will start to create a peak at around 6.6K together with a boost at 14K, shifting it down to 5900Hz in blue will raise the area around 5.5K while reducing upper treble area. Already a shift by 200Hz can cause unwanted effects:

A shift up to 7000Hz with the current tuning would look like this, completely unusable although there are enough IEM measurements I have seen which do not look that different actually while people are still praising them:

Update: Thanks for the extremely valueable feedback I got from Douwe and Adrian who gave me some suggestions for a better bass tuning. I tried to improve it in the meantime and the overall balance  became much more realistic now. Before it sounded rather like some HD800S with less treble overall, now its closer to a HD600. Blue was my previous setting where I tried to get closer to the Harman target but this resulted in a thin and hollow sound, black is the new bass tuning.:

Only by adjusting the bass balance also the overall balance improved a lot as well. It is so fascinating how a bit of a curve adjustment in the lower register can influence the perception of upper frequencies at the same time and it proves that adjusting the sound just towards some lines will result in some crap. Apart from bass and mids I think that the Harman target works very nicely for upper mids and treble, I didn't really try to follow it here but adjusted mostly by ear and it still is quite tight with the target in this area.
