Hi, have you maybe checked the bluetooth audio delay in Sonos Roam while watching a video, e.g. on YouTube or Netflix?

not yet, but will check, but I think it also depends a lot which device you use. usually with iOS there seems to be some automatic compensation for many bluetooth devices as I get hardly any delay with most speakers or bluetooth headphones I tried

The treble tends to get lost a bit as of they are drowned out by the mids, which keeps you from hearing the smallest details. Sonos reproduces some clean frequencies from what I heard so far, giving quite some purity in the main notes and good clarity in voices, but yeah it sacrifices the details (treble) which are lost a bit as a result. What do you think? P.s. have you tried the equalizer to see if you can get better sound out of it? So far I’m not that impressed by its sound to be honest.

Hmm, I'm curious if the second unit will be better. If you still have the Beosound A1, can you please compare with it to see if it sounds better? (or maybe with some EQ changes). Thanks!

Danke für diesen schönen und ausführlichen Vergleich! Das sind die "Oldschool-Vergleich-Videos", die ich super finde :) Und zum Roam: Sonos versorgt seine Speaker ja öfters mal mit Updates, daher gehe ich davon aus, dass wenn alle Modelle dieses Problem haben, dieses sicherlich behoben wird. Würde er absolut sauber spielen, dann fände ich ihn schon toll, besonders in Anbetracht der geringen Größe...

Eh... wäre sofort ein keeper bei mir, wenn nicht diese Unsauberkeiten. Es wird etwas besser und er spielt dann auch ausgewogener mit Bass auf -3 und Höhen -1. habe ihn jetzt so permanent. Warte trotzdem ab wie der zweite sich verhält. Weil der verzerrte Statuston hat mich schon irritiert.

The A1 is different, it has deeper bass but the bass is far not pronounced, especially at low levels the A1 can sound even slightly thin. At elevated levels the A1 should easily beat the Roam but it’s not easy to really say, I somehow like the warm sound of the Sonos but at the same time having this nice smooth treble.

Of topic question, but Oluv have you seen/tested the Sonoro Stream and/or Sonoro Easy. Saw a video today comparing it to the Marshall Stockwell. Would love to see a video from your side, as honest opinions are hard to find these days and your just great. You prevented me from some horrible buys. And I actually found some bigger and lower price speakers that I really liked after seeing your reviews.

welchen speaker würdest du aktuell unter 200 empfehlen in der größe von flip5, soundcore motion+ denon etc. ? soundcoremotion für 70 € im angebot immer noch ?;) muss kein 360 sound haben

ich wäre froh wenn minirg eine version 4 raus bringt mit alexa (wlan integriert) udn wireless charging.generell bin ich kein alexa freudn aber manche features ind einfach praktisch..gerade radio,musik und lichtsteuerung. für ein küchenradio sind gerade akkubetriebene bluetooth/wlan speaker ideal. mit alexa erst recht weil man mit einem kurzen Satz per Sprachbefehl jeden beliebigen Song oder Radiosender am laufen hat.

These look so oils school. What can they do better than a Nest Audio for 99$? I once heard a Sonoro when they still did these FM radios with CD player included and I was somehow impressed because of the bass but it didn’t really sound somehow good. That was more like 15 years ago I think

So wirklich highendiges gibt’s da nicht, also zumindest nichts was auch so klingen würde. Fand im Endeffekt den Somy XB33 am überzeugendsten, Klang irgendwie reifer als der Anker.

Hätte den auch viel besser erwartet muss ich dazu sagen, dann heißt es mal wieder einer von vielen. Von den Höhen hat er mir persönlich sehr gefallen, die Auflösung ist wirklich gut und die Abstrahlcharakteristik ist auch echt nicht schlecht. Schade um den unsauberen Bass, das Ding hat wirklich potential verschenkt, hätte da etwas mehr Erwartet. Bin aber noch auf den 2 gespannt wie der sich schlägt ob es dann das gleiche Problem sein wird oder du nur ein Montagsgerät erwischt hast.

Einer hat mir geschrieben dass seiner exakt dieselben Probleme im Bass hat und ein einziges Testmagazin hat das auch schon bemängelt. Scheint also normal zu sein, ich war nur irritiert dass selbst ein bassiger Statuston irgendwie schon verzerrt war, da dachte ich da muss was kaputt sein. Machen einen Statuston rein, den der Lautsprecher nicht mal sauber spielen kann, das kann doch nicht sein.

Vor allem es ist ein Premium Hersteller die gibt es auch nicht erst seit paar Jahren. Da müssen sie echt nachbessern, weil irgendwie verkaufen sich ja die Stationäre Lautsprecher von denen und viele sind begeistert. Das ist echt komisch ich hab da mehr erwartet von Sonos.

das stimmt, allerdings hat Sonos gegenüber vielen anderen den Vorteil, dass sie das Problem einfach per Update über die App beheben können. Es müssten sich einfach mehrere Leute beim Support über das Problem beschweren, vielleicht hilft das ja!?

Mit der EQ Einstellung Bass -2/-4 wird es besser. Für mich klingt es so, als könnte der Treiber die Standard-EQ Einstellung im Bass technisch einfach nicht abbilden.

ja, das glaube ich auch. Vielleicht würde es schon helfen, wenn per Update der geboostete Oberbass um 2dB reduziert und der tiefere Bass so bleiben würde

Sollte ja eigentlich machbar sein. Habe die B&O A1 leider nicht mehr bei mir, sonst würde ich auch gerne mal meinen Roam im Vergleich hören. Doch abgesehen von Bass gefällt die Roam ganz gut.

Ja finde ich auch, der Klang hat was, er hat Charakter und die Höhen haben auch Qualität. Der Bass gehört etwas besser „modelliert“, truplay usw scheint hier leider überhaupt nichts zu korrigieren, aber wir nutzen ihn jetzt einige Tage und diese Kompaktheit, dann doch einen schön reifen Klang zu haben, hat was. Auch Airplay 2 ist natürlich klasse, er spielt jetzt bei uns immer synchron mit dem HomePod mini nur dass der Sonos eben in den Garten mitkommt.

Für mich hörten sich die Probleme im Bassbereich bei dem Sonos über meine Kopfhörer an, als wäre da was hardwareseitig defekt. Der grössere Denon klang btw Klasse. Overall denke ich macht der Sonos seine Sache gut, aber 179€ sind zu viel.

Naja, er kostet genauso viel wie bspw. der Charge 5, welcher zwar ein wenig mehr Power hat, aber dafür ist das Klangbild des Roam insgesamt angenehmer. Und dann hat der Roam halt noch viel mehr Funktionen: Einbindung ins Wlan, sowie (wenn Vorhanden) die Einbindung in ein bestehendes Sonos-Setup, es gibt die gut funktionierende App zudem kann er auch Airplay 2 und wireless Charging. Hier steckt also wirklich viel Technik in dem Winzling. Das alles hat der Charge 5 (und viele andere) halt nicht zu bieten... Auch wenn der Roam echt klein ist, so hat er eigentlich recht viel zu bieten. Wenn er sauber spielt, dann wäre der Preis also durchaus angemessen...

Dear Oluv, yesterday i spend my whole afternoon listening to all these speakers you can compare on switcher.oluvgadgets.com you should really make an app of it and add more speakers. This is exactly what people (like me) need! Add some reviews to such an app and it would become the greatest music app ever! Honestly great stuff.

Unfortunately the microphones I used back then broke, the replacement I got had a ifferent frequency response and now I am using a completely different microphone setup, which means I would need to repeat all recordings. It was a pain in the ass to do all this and the effort didn't pay off at all, therefore I simply stopped.

Stephan Kappmeier genau den gleichen Gedanken hatte ich auch gehabt zum Sonos Roam. Da sind viel mehr Möglichkeiten viel mehr Technik verbaut als beim Charge 5 find den Preis genau so angemessen wenn der Bass nicht wäre. Find von der JBL den Klang grauenvoll vor allem die Höhen kann mich nie mit den anfreunden es klingt ganz einfach unangenehm.

Für mich wäre der Raum hauptsächlich eine Ergänzung zu meinem Sonos System die ich eigentlich nicht so wichtig brauche. Es könnte für meine Android Geräte der Zugang zum streaming über das komplette Sonos System bieten, vergleichbar mit dem was Apple-Nutzer schon seit langem nutzen können. Da ich vom Klang der Anker soundcore Motion Plus wirklich begeistert bin, stellen sie auch meinen persönlichen Maßstab da. Die soundcore boost krank zu ihrer Zeit für mich auch wirklich okay und heute ist es eben der Motion Plus. Wenn du sagst, dass ich vom Klang des soundcore um gegenüber dem soundcore nicht enttäuscht wäre, dann könnte ich darauf meine mögliche kaufentscheidung gründen.👍

I think this comparison doesn‘t make any sense cause the Stockwell 2 ist much bigger and a completely other kind of speaker due to its front and back fireing design...

Oluv I looked at a lot if reviews of the Sonos Roam, Marshall Emberton, Tribits, Anker Soundcores etc. But looking at the size (similar to the Roam, Emberton, Xsound Go/ Maxsound Plus etc), the portability, usages indoor and outdoor which speakers would you recommend most (in terms of overall sound quality)?!

The MaxSound plus is definitely the best bang for the buck. Although if you don’t mind larger the Motion+ or the XB33 would come into my mind. Above that: Stockwell II, Helsinki and such...

Mick Coglione? Non un gran nome.. Sonos Roam clear (even too much..) open sounding with underwelming bass reponse compared to others.

Saw your review with the second gear on youtube, what a bummer the Roam is indeed really overpriced. I’m gonna wait till june when the upgraded Maxsound Plus will be released; probably gonna buy that one! I also went to the shop today. I wanted to hear the Stockwell 2 in real life. It isn’t that loud but loud enough for a picknick or small room. The Emberton is way louder and I’m sorry to say but the one I heard (fresh from the box) actually sounded way better as the one you reviewed (i just wanted to point that out). But I would describe main the difference between the two as such: The stockwell represents the sing and song writer sound it’s really personal creating a bit of a bubble. While the emberton would represent a bigger stage sound. You could definitely hear the difference. The stockwell seemed to carry the sound through the air and yeah it definitely created that bubble you noticed), while the Emberton was more direct more heavy maybe (can’t really describe it). I actually liked both, and although some complain about the bass it was actually really good on both of these. But they are for different people as those who like the JBL style. It’s not made for big party’s, but small gatherings. You know the cafe/bar vs the club kind of thing. I like the Marshalls more, but hey I’m more of a cafe/bar kind of person. So three speakers I’m definitely gonna buy, the Romos - sorry to say -needs work; if they can give it the right bass it will probably be one of the better speakers out there. P.s I listened to the Roam in the shop; bass was not much better :-(

Which one should I buy , I am looking for a strong base clear sound speaker to but in my old car and use it also in my home , what about JBL flip 5?! Any other suggestions?!

Flip 5? Now way. XB33 is better than both but very directional and needs continuous EQ adjustment depending on the volume level

Yes I noticed that xb33 is not going very loud.but it's soundstage and base is better but disappointing loudness . But why you didn't mention ultimate ear, earfun speaker , and flare 2

XB33 Is about as loud as the Motion+. Ultimate ears etc are all below the ones shown. The Sonos outperforms those
