I am currently working on an EQ for the DROP Panda which got an update recently to work with Sonarworks’ SoundID app. The EQ is uploaded to the headphone and saved permanently it seems. Unfortunately their own profile for the Panda is quite bad but there is a hidden fully parametric EQ with up to 10 filters included and I am currently tweaking it to make something usable out of this headphone.

As there is no function included to share one’s own presets unlike with Jaybird’s app I will post my final settings filter per filter for you to reproduce them one by one.

Also a short video showing the difference in sound is coming soon.

Unfortunately based on what I've compared with the Ora GQs, these are far from prefect even with the Sonarworks EQ. Would love to see what you can do with these. Even with the stock EQ from their latest firmware release, my Audeze EL8s, Sine, Focal Clear would sound way better at stock settings compared to the Pandas. Absolutely shocking..

It gets glowing reviews everywhere anyhow... I tried my best but all I manage is to get it usable it won’t sound great regardless of what I tried.

Panda - I wrote to you when I first got wind of the Panda & you gave them a "thumbs down."  I'm not sure where the "glowing reviews" are that you talked about - when the reviewers I watch (the Headphone Show, Wheezy Tech) got around to reviewing the Panda, they were on the same page you were: negative, to luke warm.  The app didn't exist back then - would it be a miracle cure when it came out? Apparently not.  So why isn't that the end of the story? Why are you tinkering with these $400 headphones? There must a reason. Additional life & death questions: What, if anything, do you know about the HiFiMan Deva, and the Grado Wireless Series? And where does the Life Q30 fit into all of this?

I was curious to hear the “transformation” like with that $10 Sony.. I spent some hours with the Panda now and I think it can be made quite decent. It’s still overpriced but for those who bought one, there is some rescue haha

There is an improved soundcore life q30 coming soon. I might get one if it can be brought to the same level as the first but with better anc.

Thats how i look at it. No chance they will change the frequency response to anything decent but if its pretty much the same as the old one we know we can atleast get good sound out of it with maybe some improved anc, ambient sound and call quality. Lets hope they dont screw this up in some weird way.

Was waiting for the new version of Q30 but Anker is doing some shady stuff - "We're sorry, but the page you requested could not be found." when opening https://eu.soundcore.com/pages/newlife
