I bought the latest version of the Doss Soundbox XL based on a recommendation but in the end it turned out to sound worse then the previous versions. I also wanted to feature the Google Nest Audio which became our daily speaker playing webradio stations the whole day in our kitchen.

I left my more serious comment below the YouTube video....but I can't help but notice your cute doggy seems to have gotten into a serious scrap with the Easter bunny :)

Hello. I wasn't expecting to hear a google speaker on your channel, but I must say the google speaker sounds very nice. It would be nice to listen a stereo pair of google nest speakers, maybe you could try the homepod or the homepod mini,.. or a comparison between the google home and a Sonos one. I must say that I am in the group of your followers that is interested more with speakers, and less headphones Thank you. Nice video!

I wanted to get the HomePod mini but Apple doesn’t sell them in Austria for no obvious reason

hi oluv, sorry to bother, but if you got some spare time could you post the measurements of the sony xb33 and the anker motion boom ?? Its just out of curiosity but i really like to consult your measurements speacily these of great products, thank u!!

Yep, DOSS did the same thing to the tuning between v1.0 and v1.1. The original v1.0 sounded the best by far, but the build was crap and the charger design was junk (broke on mine inside the actual speaker unit) and they replaced it with a v1.1 -- which sounds noticeably worse. Now v2.1 is even worse than v1.1! Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

Hey Oluv, I bought the Doss Soundbox XL v2.1 not knowing that it sounded noticeably worse than the original. What would you recommend for a replacement under $150?

Stocklone

I really like the Nest Audio for the price. I have a pair in the bedroom for stereo listening. I love using pairs of bluetooth speakers.

This is an interesting comparison, I think a cool video would compare a variety of smart speakers. (amazon, google, etc)

I can't seem to find anything that rivals the original Soundbox XL v1.0 for the money when it comes to deep/punchy bass and overall big, clear, room-filling sound. It seems like they went from a nice V-shaped EQ in v1.0, then brought down the lower-bass a little/boosted midbass and mids up a tad/treble down noticeably for v1.1, then tried to flatten things too far with v2.1 and lost the sparkle. Let me know if you find something!

On the back of the Nest there is a mic mute switch. As far as I know once you flip it the four dots on the front light up in orange. Do they go away after a while or are they on forever as long as you're in mute mode?

I have listened a comparison between Google Nest vs amazon echo 4, and I liked more the amazon product (at least in that video). I wonder what you think?

I got a Google Home Max here in the living room. Very nice speaker as well. Really powerful, tight and quite accurate sound. Amazing video again!

Here is some news https://www.theverge.com/2021/3/4/22313451/sonos-roam-leak-features-specs-price-release-date

oluvsgadgets

Thanks, that’s interesting news also some rumors about Sonos’ first headphone are floating around. Btw. the Echo 4 has arrived just today but I didn’t even have the chance to open the package yet.

What about the homepod mini, any news?

oluvsgadgets

I have no details about delivery. They were estimating end of March. The Echo 4 has Bass better under control than the Nest but treble is more coloured, Nest sounds more neutral but cannot keep up with bass at higher levels.

which one do you prefer most? I have a sonos one and i must say after applying trueplay it sounds very nice (in my opinion at lest :))

oluvsgadgets

Yes I think the Sonos is still the best, although when I put the Helsinki beside it sounds sad

Too bad that Helsinki is history. I think that the homepod mini, at 100 euros, is a joke comparing to nest and the Echo. We will see.

oluvsgadgets

I also think so but it’s pretty tiny at the same time, better competitor would be the Minirig Mini maybe

Just really impressive how better even the v1.1 sounds compared to the v2.1
