We are making changes to Patreon tiers! (Patreon)

Hello everyone! We have some important Patreon tier changes to announce. Please make sure to read everything carefully.

What is changing?

We are introducing Tier 4! We're also rebalancing existing tiers. In the process, we're changing pricing, adding more tier rewards, and introducing annual memberships, which will allow you to get a 15% discount on the new prices!

The new tiers are available right now! The current tiers are going to be removed after the end of this month. Please switch to a new tier by then!

What does this mean for me?

Due to the way Patreon works, you will need to resubscribe to one of the new tiers.

If you do not switch to a new tier, Patreon will consider you a tier-less supporter. In that case, you will continue paying at the old price but will no longer receive any rewards.

In order to continue receiving rewards, you need to resubscribe to one of the new tiers by 31st July 2022.

This is because it's not possible to directly change prices of existing tiers, so we are removing the old tiers and replacing them with new ones.

If I switch tiers while I'm already subscribed, will I be charged twice?

No. Patreon knows how much you’ve already paid for the month and takes this into account. If you were charged $10 for the old tier 3, and then resubscribe for $12 for the new tier 3, you will only be charged the extra difference of $2. This works the same way as upgrading your tier in general and also applies to annual memberships.

What are annual memberships?

Annual memberships are a great way to save money if you're a long-term supporter. It means you will be charged once a year instead of once a month, with an overall discount of 15%. You can select annual billing when switching to your new tier. Full details about annual memberships can be found here.

What happens if I switch to a lower tier or cancel my subscription?

If you downgrade to a lower tier, you will not be charged again. However, you will also not get the difference back. Your in-game Pony Town rewards will immediately update to your new subscription status.

If you plan to downgrade or cancel, we recommend waiting until shortly before the end of the month before making the switch to ensure that you get as much out of your current payment as possible.

What happens if I don’t do anything?

If you don’t resubscribe by 31st July 2022, you will lose your rewards, and your supporter benefits will become inactive. Your ponies and saved maps will not disappear, but you will be unable to create new ones while you're above the limit.

Why are you changing the tiers?

It has been over four years since we opened Patreon. Since then, we have been adding more and more rewards over the years. The current tiers have a vastly larger amount of rewards than at their initial release!

Our game and team have been growing alongside this as well. Your support is what allows us to do what we do, by now funding a team of 5 full-time developers and several more part-time team members. The more funding we can get, the more people we can pay and the faster we can work on the game.

Considering the amount of rewards that are available in each tier now, we believe it's time to adjust the pricing to better reflect their values, and it will greatly benefit the game’s development time.

We understand if you are unable or not willing to support us at the updated prices. Either way, we thank you so much for the support you have given us in the past!
