Bruh how do both of them just forget that he won the belt by beating sendo, not the doctor lmao. The fight with the doctor dude was his first title defense, which you already reacted to in the movie

To recap, Ippo used the Dempsey Roll in the fight before Sendo, then fought Sendo and won the title (end of season 1), then fought Sanada (the doctor dude) as his first title defense (the 90-minute long movie you watched). They recapped the fight because there was a 6 year gap between the movie and the new season.
