Yea hxh and naruto have alot of similarities. Like how JJK is very influenced by Naruto, Naruto was very influenced by HXH. Hxh is actually older than One Piece by a little bit.

Not super important but HxH starting serializing March 16, 1998 and One Piece started serializing July 22, 1997. So HxH started publishing about 8 months after One Piece started.

Yeap naruto took quite alot from HxH in the very beginning.Kurapika only survival of clan and has special eyes plus killua design and brother issues = Sasuke backstory and sharingan Hunter exam = chunnin exam. Hisoka = Orochimaru both are interested on children with talent. Phantom tourpe = Akatsuki.

I mean that is what a pawn shop does. You sell your item to them and get a ticket and then you can come back and buy it for the same price, but if you don't come back in time they get to keep the item and sell it for profit. It's like an informal loan where you put up collateral. So he did sell his license, he just has the option to get it back, but pawning things is always risky because you might not have enough money to get it back later.
