SUGAR CUBES

Writer/Director: DAVID CHASE (The Sopranos)

Producer: DAVID CHASE, Nicole Lambert, Hope Ted

Cast: Talent: JAMES MCAVOY [PHIL: OFFER]

Logline: How many secrets can a CIA officer keep from his family•· especially if he's doing acid and dosing unsuspecting others all in a day's work? When his polio-survivor daughter also starts recreating with LSD, what once was political, gets seriously personal.

Roles:

MARIN: Highly intelligent and curious about the nature of existence. Afflicted with polio at the age of seven, Marin has been using crutches to get around much of her life: She feels sorry for herself much of the time and isn't exactly open to new experiences. Attending Stanford changes her view of the world, especially after she experiments with LSD and essentially loses her ego in the process. However, her opened mind begins to realize that her father used LSD for very different purposes when he was conducting experiments with the CIA. Marin is torn between wanting to protect her father and to what's right ethically.

PHIL: A Yale graduate working for the CIA To all the world, Phil looks like a fairly typical family man. But truth be told, he's involved in some genuinely unethical experiments to see if LSD is a potential mind control weapon for the military. Phil is living a lie in a lot of ways, but he seems disconnected from the more emotional elements of his work. Instead, he just keeps his secrets from the family while trying to do right by his polio-afflicted daughter Marin. Phil carries the
weight of the world inside him and may have even killed some people alone the way. He's a haunted man who thinks what he's going is good for the country. His experience with LSD is not a good one, so he thinks the new generation of kids treating it like a "peace drug" are in for a reckoning. Offer JAMES MCAVOY
