Hey, hey, amazing patrons!

It’s James Introcaso, here to bring you the bold and beautiful ARCADIA 5. Check out that cover by Sean Andrew Murray. The level of detail blows my mind! All of Sean’s work is incredibly evocative, and you should peruse this artist’s portfolio to get a lot of inspiration for your games.

Here’s what you can find inside ARCADIA 5!

Long-Term Curses by Leon Barillaro

Leon, who wrote ARCADIA 1’s “Workshop Watches,” is back with a new devious article! These magical torments can’t be undone by a simple remove curse spell. Your character must break a curse by adventuring if they find themselves predicting a future no one believes, constantly followed by ravens, or turning into a puddle of slime.

Gustavo Pelissari created the unique art for this article. Behold!

Goldmonger Subclasses by Carlos Cisco

Unleash your greed with the Avarice Domain cleric, the Circle of the Gilded druid, and the Oath of Acquisitions paladin. Each subclass allows players to embrace their love of treasure without shame (not that they had any to begin with). These adventurers aren’t evil! They make magnificent party members because they always find, and almost always share, the wealth. Plus this article includes an NPC and three retainers based on the subclasses.

MCDM’s art outsource manager and in-house artist, Nick De Spain, drew these greedy heroes. Here’s one:

Alabaster's Almanac by Sam Mannell

Finally, Sam Mannell (author of ARCADIA 3’s “Ace’s High”) brings you nine new spells from across the Timescape in “Alabaster’s Almanac”. These spells vary from low-level and functional, like Alabaster’s adjacent acquisition, to supremely powerful and reality bending, like realize image. Plus Alabaster’s adaptation for the World Below lets you sweat acid!

Linda Lithén and MCDM’s in-house artist Grace Cheung (ARCADIA 4's cover artist) lent their illustrative powers to make this article extra magical!

What's Next?

We’re internally exploring ideas for expanding future issues of ARCADIA with content that doesn’t need to be playtested. If you have ideas please share them on the MCDM Discord and subreddit.

In the meantime, I need to keep working on ARCADIA 6…

— James and the ARCADIA crew

FAQs

Q: How long will I be able to download the ARCADIA PDF attached to this post?

A: Indefinitely. Though this wasn’t the case at launch, our policy has changed. All issues of ARCADIA remain attached to their launch posts. You can read more about it here.

Q: I know someone who wants to get a copy of ARCADIA, but they don't want to use Patreon. Is there somewhere else they can get it?

A: Definitely, and we understand! That's why, when we post the current issue of ARCADIA to Patreon, we add it to the MCDM Shop at the same time :D. On the MCDM Shop an issue of ARCADIA is $7.

Q: I want to submit an article for ARCADIA. How do I do that?

A: Thanks for your interest, but we currently don’t accept open submissions — you can check out this post to learn more about how we source articles for ARCADIA.

Q: What is this... an FAQ for ANTS? I have a question and it's not one of the ones listed here!

A: Oh no! D: If you need help with anything MCDM-related, email our support inbox (hello@mcdmproductions.com) and we'll respond as soon as we can. We're looking forward to reaching the point where we can bring on a dedicated support team member to help everyone lickety-split, but until we get there we try to check for new messages every week or two. We've got many tools at our disposal, so rest assured that when you hear back from us we will do everything we can to make sure you're taken care of! :)

Oh man that cover art is GORGEOUS. Y'all knock it out of the park every issue!

A friend of mine is starting up a campaign using all kinds of stuff from Arcadia; I'm so psyched to get into it!!

I would be happy to just get this art every month. Beautiful work!

Anonymous

Hyped you brought back the art style from the Seasonal Subclasses for the Long Term Curses! Really love that stuff.

Fiction does not require playtests, just a good edit. Articles on world building, Statecraft, Politics, Culture, Religion, War and its effects, or any number of topics written from the perspective of experienced writers/DM's would be fun. I always liked the articles in Dragon about stuff like "how to prepare a city for a magical siege" or "how to run a hard boiled detective story in your game"...for instance.

Oh my god that cover art! ❤️

I absolutely love this weirdo cover art.

Ah, those curses! *Chef's kiss* Also, 'Chef's kiss' sounds like it could be a cool curse name.

My first thought every time I see a cover, “Damn, guys… no need to go that hard for just five bucks.” I do hope to see them in print some day.

As a big Acquisitions Inc fan, I love the opportunities created by these subclasses!

That art has so much Star Wars in it! :-D

Matt was right, the cover is amazing

Brilliant.

Cover art so good they didn't even want to include their logo.

*Guys.* You did it again! Gorgeous art, brilliant articles, and killer contributors! Things just get better with every issue!

Looks at cover art - "Hmm, I never wanted to live in a siege tower until just now..."

Nevermind, was so obsessed with the art in the foreground that I missed the logo in the background. Only noticed it after seeing Nick credited for "Title Logo"... (Internal Realization) wait, what logo? OMG, how did I miss that?

Samabam

Great issue, just wanted to alert you that the Gaze of Venom spell has a typo on the word "incapacitated."

The quality of what you guys are putting together is unbelievable. Every Acadia update has been gloriously put together. Well done to the whole team and keep up the great work!

Sweet Hebby Jebbies I love the art, and everything else. But Dang Mr. Gustavo Pelissari art scream tarot card...

Wielding seems to imply (based on the art and the flavor about not touching cursed items) that the spell is used to pick up the weapon and wield it without actually touching it, but mechanically it seems that it works as if you were holding it.

I'm still blown away by how cool each issue of Arcadia is, I'm glad you folks like it too! -Matt Colville.

That cover art is so evocative. Incredible work by Sean!

Loving the magazine, so glad I subbed for this.

The best thing about these mags is that they're useful. One thing I will say is that the spell "Scryspike," isn't specific about the DC you're attacking. I assume it's the AC of the attacker?

Anonymous

Love these! Especially the curses! They'll probably be playing a part in my game very soon!

HaroldHogmen

I have used something from every single issue of Arcadia. Truly great content y'all are churning out. It's like all those years I read Dungeon or Dragon as a kid before I was really playing that much except now I can incorporate stuff with my full functional gaming group.

Thanks! I've added it to the bug tracker. --Spencer, Lead Tester

This is my favorite Arcadia so far! I love that the whole issue has a unifying theme that binds them together.

Anonymous

that cover is where my bbeg lives, duh

Anonymous

It keeps getting better! The curses? Beautiful! Using them this weekend!

Anonymous

I love this!

Anonymous

Why no "ARCADIA" on the cover?

Anonymous

I have to say, the Long-Term Curses are exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for! Thanks to Leon !

Anonymous

Loving the contents, but I feel the need to point out: on page 11, it's not "tennents", it's "tenets"

Anonymous

Anyone else getting a DS9 Ferengi vibe from those Goldmonger subclasses?

mcdm

You're not wrong. Check out the interview with the author in our latest Q&A livestream. https://youtu.be/juI_chK5EYw -- Jerry

Once you hit issue 12, will you have a print run containing issues 1-12?

Anonymous

Is there anywhere we can contribute to corrections or errata? On page 11: "But for many worshippers, avarice often comes from misinterpretation of the texts or tennents." *Tennents* isn't a word. It's as if the author knew that *tenants* wasn't the word they were thinking of, and knew something about the necessary changes to the word, and really almost, but not quite, got to *tenets*.

interesting cover, it could be fantasy, but it could also be steampunk.
