These are certainly more marketable, but I dunno... the blank expression of the cardboard just had a bit more humour to them IMO, though I do like the design for the pokemon themselves... maybe cardboard for humans and puffballs for pokemon? What do you guys think?

Sorry to say, but I'd probably confuse the human characters for Pokémon all the time, thought Misty was Pikachu first. x) I'd prefer cardboard cutouts, and it's easier to make more of those for poses or expressions if one would like. People are saying cardboard humans and puff-émon, and I think I agree. ^^

Yeah, I say we combine them, The humans are the cardboard people, the Pokémon are the Cotton balls.

Tom Hur

Personally, I prefer the cutouts.

I prefer the cutouts personally a bit more relatable than just puffballs but having the puffballs for the Pokémon would be funny so maybe

J. MacGillivray

Combine the two! Cutouts for humans and puffballs for pokemon. Be easier to tell them apart.

I agree with everyone who's saying cutouts for the trainers and puffballs for the Pokemon. Of two options so far, I think that would be the way to go.

The cardboard is fine with humans. If I may, it will be a say to say that I will not miss the original format, I find it was the perfect mix between your commentary, borderline abridged and clips of the dub. I did manage to save a few but unfortunately I had work, so all I could save was 25 of them. From Ep 1 to 144.

Not 100% sure where I stand on keeping the puffballs around for the Pokemon (it could be funny, but could also look like too much of an aesthetic clash, so maybe if we see a test-run of that I could offer my 2 cents), but I'd definitely want the humans to stay as cut-outs with drawn faces. Having expressions applied to them by pen/pencil would parallel better with the animated originals.

Human cutouts perhaps Pokemon puffball

I agree that human cutouts and Pokemon puffball is a great combination

Suede, could you post the scripts for the now-gone episodes? I love your analysis so much and I'm sad that I can't see them anymore. The scripts would help fill the void.

This one was funnier to me, but that could be because of the way it was shot? The cardboard one had everyone feel quite distant in the frame but this one felt more varied and bolder, and the timing felt sharper. That might not have much to do with the puppet choice but maybe they do affect how you approach the shot subconsciously? It was also easier to read the 180° pov switch at the end in this one.
