🛠️ 3D Printing Tips : Flexible Build Plate SPACERS (Patreon)
Content
Hello Everyone!
I have an important follow-up to my post about flexible build plates! If you aren't sure what that is, check out my first post here.
🚨 Z-Spacers! What are they, do you need one?
If you have a flexible plate installed you'll immediately notice that your whole build plate assembly is larger now. You might need to account for this change with a spacer. WhamBam has a good list of Z Adjustment spacers for each printer.
Example of a spacer. They are very small! Just a couple millimeters thick to mimic the thickness you added to your build plate with the install.
I don't use WhamBam plates because they are much more expensive than the generic brand, but this list of spacers is still good! I use generic build plates I found on Amazon like this one. It is $20 USD for 2 build plates. WhamBam sells just one for $50 USD so I decided to take my chances with the cheaper one and I've had zero issues.
✅ My Experience with a Saturn S!
I have a Saturn S so I used this z-spacer! The install is behind the assembly that holds the build plate so it can be hard to get to. I recommend placing your 3D printers on its back and grabbing a flashlight. I was able to use the same screws, but it will be MUCH easier if you buy some longer hex screws.
