In today’s video I’ll walk you through the process of painting a little eye sketch.

Also, I’d like to share some news!

I’m possibly hosting another painting retreat because I would love for us to meet each other, explore some wonderful destinations and have some painting sessions in person.

It’ll be perfect for all levels since I’ll be giving everyone individual attention. Just like the last time, there’ll be painting classes every day and the remaining time we’ll be enjoying local cuisine, exploring new places, doing all sorts of other activities and having a good time!

If you’re interested, please fill out this quick survey so we could pick a destination.

Awesome. Are you utilizing linseed oil from the get go or start with thinner or just straight out of the tube here? If so could you elaborate ratio wise? Thanks

Daria Callie

Hi Devan! Thanks. I stopped using solvents or paint thinners in my painting process a while ago. I just use linseed oil as medium. I dip a brush in it every now and then either before picking up a new color (in case I want to make it a bit more fluid) or before wiping the brush with a paper towel. I like to pre-mix some tones in advance before painting, I don’t add medium to the mixes. Oil paints I use are quite oily and fluid straight from the tube so I don’t need to do that, they have a nice creamy consistency.

Hi Daria, Do you still use solvents or a paint thinner to clean your brushes?

Daria Callie

Hey! Only if they dry with some paint in them. I stopped using solvents a while ago, and I usually wash my brushes with soap and warm water (at the end of the day when the paint is still wet)
