Hi Daria, I really struggle to paint smiling open mouths showing teeth. Especially teeth and people who don’t have full rounded lips. More straight flattish lips. Any help would be appreciated and a real time video would be awesome. I’m sure this would help a lot of people. Many thanks. By the way, I have learnt so much from your videos which has been invaluable. You are such a stunning artist!! Thank you! X

Hi Sheri, Painting teeth or a smile is quite tricky.. What I can recommend is, first of all, paying attention to the area surrounding the mouth, the smile folds, etc - they also play a big role in making a smile look natural/realistic. In regards to painting teeth, just try to get them as close to the reference as you can, check the colors (people usually tend to make teeth lighter in value than they should be) and don’t add too much detail, paint them “softly” as opposed to overly defining every gap and every tooth! “Smudge them together” a little, it will give a much more realistic appearance. And again remember that correct values are the key. Hope this helps :) Thank you so much for being a part of my Patreon, it’s nice to hear that my posts and videos have been helpful to you!
