Hello everyone,

I am pleased to announce the release of a minor update (V3) for the Dismembering Framework: Alpha 03!

What's New in This Update:

  • Creature Pack Update (Falmers): The creature pack has been updated to include Falmers (male and female).

  • Armor Type Override Parameter: A new parameter allows for overriding the type of armor to generate the correct sound during dismemberment. For example, Draugr wearing helmets will now produce a "heavy armor" sound when decapitated, adding an extra layer of realism.

  • FormID Interpretation System Update: The system has been improved to better interpret mod FormIDs, ensuring greater compatibility and stability with mods.

  • Bug Fixes: Resolved a potential crash issue that could occur if, by mistake, an actor had no defined race.

Download and Feedback:

Download the latest version of the Dismembering Framework and the updated Falmer creature pack here to explore these new features in action.

Your feedback is invaluable in helping me continue to improve and develop this project.

Thank you for your support! Feel free to post a message in the dedicated chat if you encounter any issues!

See you soon,

Will there eventually be a tutorial in adding custom dismemberment for armors or creatures etc? Btw this is amazing been waiting for something like this for a long time

Seb263

I'd like to eventually create a complete tutorial, but the process of making these assets from scratch is quite lengthy and involves more than just two or three steps. It requires going through Blender, Nifskope, the Creation Kit, and finally creating JSON files to ensure everything works correctly. Initially, I plan to document the framework (which processes the JSON files containing the instructions) as this is the crucial part that makes the dismemberments possible. Regarding the design of 3D assets (the most time-consuming part), those who are curious and persistent can likely understand how the assets are created by studying the ones I've already made. If necessary, I'll answer any questions about this process. Despite this, I hope to eventually provide comprehensive documentation (I even have some Blender templates that I can share). However, I still have a long list of tasks to complete, so this tutorial won't be a priority for now.

Hi, great work on the mod! I tried it with SkyrimVR and it worked fine mostly. However, there is this notification saying "SkyUI is needed, restart the game" appearing all the time even though I have SkyUIVR installed. This means I have to enable the mod through the MCM menu each time I die or load a save. Also, my game crashes a lot when I decapitate a dead body on the ground. Is this because of VR specifically?

RakaZet

Hmm, I just read that the mod doesn't work on VR on a comment below. Strange because when it works, it works! It also feels natural as well. The only annoying problem is the crashing part and having to enable the mod each time.

The One They Call

Just to Add I have been playing in VR with no problems what so ever i went around 30 minutes cutting up falmer and humans to no problems so far. This mod is great! Does it work with modded armors ?

Seb263

Thanks for your feedback, it's good to know. Yes, the framework works regardless of the armor used. If specific assets are not created, the default ones will be used.

Is there a way to make the clothing dismember-able in outfit studio like there is in Fallout's outfit studio?

Seb263

It is not as simple as in Fallout. Here, the assets are separated from the original clothing and can be quickly designed in Blender. That being said, it is absolutely not necessary to create new assets for each modded armor. The framework can generate default assets when no custom assets have been created beforehand.

Game is crashing near snowy areas with this mod (Morthal and Windhelm so far) but doesn't crash anywhere else, tested on a clean install, 1.6.640. Crash logger says the following: STACK: [RSP+0 ] 0x7FF88030FB92 (void* -> DismemberingFramework.dll+007FB92 Events::DelayedEquipEvent) [F:\DismemberingFramework-master\src\Events.cpp:81] test al,al

This bug was fixed in Alpha 3 V4. Therefore, you need to install the latest version.
