There she is! 20 years old and newly out- Renee Murray 🥺️💓

Those who are close to Renee knew before Step 3 that she was trans, but living her entire life in the open has only happened recently during this part of the story. It was a big step to face a town full of people who have known her since she was born and tell them she wasn't who they thought she was. As nerve-wracking as it was, and still is in many ways, Renee is much happier now and she's got her parents, big brother, and friends to support her no matter what.

Personality-wise, Renee is much the same as ever. She tries her best though struggles to excel. Renee stays positive and humorous about it. And rather than being viewed as a slacker or goof for that, people have come to see her efforts and are more appreciative of them. As she has been since she was a kid, Renee is very outdoorsy. Hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and all that are her favorite pastimes. She only embraced that side of her more as she's grown. 

Renee and Tamarack have continued to steadily get closer as the years have gone by. And, much to her relief, her relationship with her longest held friend, Qiu, is stronger than ever after their mutually awkward teen years. 

And yet, arguably, neither of those two are the ones who spend the most quality time with Renee these days. There's a new competitor for Renee's attention in Vianca. Those two are ultimate gal pals and don't you forget it. In the end, Qiu is still Miss V's rival, haha. And, unlike the ballet thing, Qiu does take notice of this and won't take it lying down. Vianca cannot compare with Qiu's and Renee's lifelong friendship, and that's just the way it is. And, of course, the MC can be similarly invested in their friendship level with Renee, if you want them to. They've also known Renee for many years and can have a deeply close/personal connection with her by this stage.
