Hey everyone!

Second post of the day, because, well, it's time for you to learn what I'll be working on (provided I'm not sick again :D), and what you can vote on for November!

So, first, here is what will happen:

- Linux News videos, and podcasts: I'll make 4 of each in November, one per week as usual!

- Improving Linux gaming performance: this poor video is being moved to November, as I got sick this month and didn't manage to make it. At least the script is already started...

- Best distros for older hardware: same here as previously, I'll try various lightweight distros on an old laptop, and see how they'll behave

- Slimbook Hero review: a brand new laptop from Slimbook, which apparently uses a chassis no other manufacturer has yet, so it's going to be interesting!

- Snaps vs Flatpaks vs AppImages vs Packages: a look at the speed differences, the issues that remain, and trying to be as objective in terms of comparing many aspects of these packaging formats

- Online anonymity is under attack: a look at all the "efforts" being deployed to restrict, or outright stop anonymity on the internet, and why it's an issue

And now for what you can vote on!

- Should Linux distros be more like Windows: an open ended video, trying to see if it would be beneficial to Linux to imitate certain behaviors of Windows to draw newcomers in and lower the barrier to entry, or if the Linux desktop would lost what makes it special by doing so

- Open Source and money: a look at the funding problems in open source software, and the complicated relationship between Free software and software that's free.

- Get Linux's advantages on Windows: how to be more at home if you have to use Windows, or if you like Linux but can't quite use it daily. This one has been popular in previous votes, so it's coming back for another go!

- SystemD: what it is exactly, and why so many people dislike it: a look at this controversial init system that's slowly adding features and is sort of an OS inside an OS

Vote for the ones you want to see, and I'll pick the 2 with the most votes!

I'm sure the video comparing snaps, flatpaks, appimages and distro packaging will get a very civilized and constructive comment section 😉 /s Jokes aside, I like such comparison videos because each packaging format has strengths and weaknesses.

I don't get the hate on systemd. It's been instrumental in bringing Linux to a wider audience that all need the same basic parts comprising the core of their operating system and don't need it to be modular. For those that do, hey! there's plenty of choice. Still - this was my vote, as I thought it the most interesting topic.

I'd expect people to be absolutely weird and terrible in the comments, but yeah, I still think it's interesting to have a factual comparison base across multiple apps!

Yeah, I don't quite understand it either, but since I always see people criticizing it online, I felt it was interesting to talk about it!
