While not exact, the story about The Indianapolis IS based on a real, tragic event. Also, people that dive a lot wear waterproof watches, so there is nothing wrong or weird about Hooper having a watch on when he went into the cage.

Random question…why are comments turned off on your Goonies reaction? We’re people getting that heated about the truffle shuffle??

One of the greatest movies ever made 😃❤️😃❤️

Not sure where you know Robert Shaw from, but he starred a year earlier than Jaws in "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" (1974). While that one is a thriller, it is much more lighthearted than you might think. Highly recommend that one as well and I hope it'll turn up on your polls one day!

I saw Jaws in the theater when I was very young. Very scary but it is my favorite movie. Glad you watched it!

as usual, Mari, your reaction was fantastic! The scene with the head.....wow....for a minute, I thought you might actually fear-quit the movie right then and there..... Spielberg did a masterful job with the suspense and the mechanical shark that didn't work right most of the time. I am actually one of the few people my age who read the book before I saw the film. In the novel, Matt DOES in fact get eaten. (also he was having an affair with Brody's wife.....not cool....) oh and one other minor detail: the reporter that is doing a story on the beach at the time of the 4th attack IS, in fact, Peter Benchley, the author of the novel, in a cameo role. I hope your wedding was lovely and fun and I'm looking forward to whatever things you have in store for us, your viewers!

Ooh, this is gonna be fun

I watched Jaws in the theater when it first came out. (47 years ago, yikes!) The jump-scare with Ben Gardner's head in the bottom of the boat and the sudden loud music made me jump out of my skin (along with everyone else in the theater). I yelled and instantly pulled my legs up into my seat (so as not to lose my legs to the shark of course). Virtually, everyone in the theater either yelled or screamed. This was 1975, so many (all?) of us had never had such an immersive movie experience. The combination of Spielberg's direction, excellent shark effects, and John Williams' musical score came together to create a truly terrifying (and thoroughly enjoyable), movie experience - one I'll never forget.

that was wonderful the jump scare with the boat underwater, your scream from the chest burst in alien is my favourite. congratulations with your marriage!

The most misquoted tagline for this movie is "You're going to need a bigger boat." Lol Everyone thought he said "We're gonna need a bigger boat." Like zombies, people just followed it mindlessly and got everyone else believing it. Even with subtitles, they still think he's saying "We're gonna need a bigger boat" 🤣

WKUK - John Williams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnqH-atn52c If you ever get caught by a spontaneous fear of sharks, think about John Williams coming up for the OST. Should you be attacked, you'll at least die laughing (or grimacing, or somewhere in between).

Really incredible movie. Also has the distinction of having what I might rank as my personal least-favorite remake of all time.

It is said this movie is what created the summer block busters. No joke lol. This movie went through all kinds of production problems. The shark did work, that's why you don't see a lot of the shark. They were able to turn it around and create the mystery of the monster lurking around not knowing where It is. Also filming was way behind schedule but all worth it in the end.
