What a gem, indeed, Mary. I didn't think I'd ever see a reaction from you that outdid your Forest Gump reaction, but here it is This movie is brilliant, genius really. Written and directed by Frank Darabont, who wrote and directed The Shawshank Redemption, both prison movies, both based on works by Stephen King. A movie about the miracles of life, man's inhumanity to man, a clever bit of anti-capital punishment propaganda, take your pick, there is lots to get out of this movie and many interpretations available. The movie within the movie is the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers classic musical Top Hat (1935) with the song Cheek to Cheek. Now that is a movie I would like to see you react to, even though YouTube wouldn't give a lot of views to an 87 year old black and white movie musical. But you never know, and you haven't lived until you've been charmed by Astaire and Rogers singing and dancing. Something to take your mind off the sadness of this movie, just thinking about it, lol.

Thank you Mary! I cried with you and I love this film. Mr. Darabont directs this story with beginning, middle, end, vivid characters, humor, outrage and emotional release. Thats all I can hope for from a great movie!

There are so many great movies and series, and always more coming, so it would truly be impossible to run out. Here are some suggestions since you asked - some of these you might not have heard of: Empire of the Sun (1987) - Steven Spielberg film set during WW2 (but not really a war movie) starring 13-year-old Christian Bale. Amistad (1997) - Steven Spielberg (again) directed courtroom drama about native Africans illegally taken to be sold as slaves. Rudy (1993) - Inspiring underdog sports film starring Sean Astin. The Rainmaker (1997) - Courtroom drama starring Matt Damon about a young lawyer fresh out of law school taking on a big scammy insurance company. Rob Roy (1995) - Liam Neeson revenge film set in the Scottish Highlands at the start of the 18th century. Top Secret! (1984) - Totally bonkers comedy starring Val Kilmer.

I worked in a state prison for 25 years. Occasionally we'd get a new staff member with kind of a "Percy" mentality and they ALWAYS got people hurt. They never lasted long. If the prisoners didn't give them an attitude correction we would. I'm glad we don't have the death penalty in my state. That's something in which I just couldn't participate because you really do get to know the prisoners as people.

Frank Darabont + Stephen King = Great Movie..... Every time. :) IMHO Shawshank is still the pinnacle of perfection, but both The Green Mile and The Mist are both amazing as well. And yeah, this one always brings me to tears when they execute John Coffey. Every damn time. Great reaction as always. Recommended series? Severance on Apple TV. It's one of the best Sci-Fi/Drama shows currently in production.

I'm so surprised after watching this movie for the first time. It is such a universally liked movie. Your emotions/reactions are normally so similar to mine. Very interesting to me that it didn't move me much. I wonder why that is...maybe the supernatural element, or idk what. The most I felt was 'mildly sad' during John's execution. I was not a fan of the whole Mr.Jingles is not dead/long life angle at the end as well. What a mystery to me because normally I am generally aligned to popular sentiment with these all time great movies. Anybody else feels this way? Any interesting theories on my selective disconnect for this movie?

I generally try and stay positive because taste is subjective but I admit I am also not a fan of this movie. I have my thoughts on why it doesn't work...but I don't want to bum anyone out haha.

Mary, I've been lobbying for this reaction for a long time, and I have to say, it was well worth the wait!! I watched every minute of your reaction, and yes, I cried along with you. Watching The Green Mile definitely takes a toll emotionally. It is an amazing story by an amazing storyteller and beautifully acted throughout, but a heartbreaking film. This film really sheds a light on true goodness, true evil, and the heart-wrenching dilemma faced by men who know in their hearts that someone is innocent, but have no way to prove it. Add to that the suffering that John Coffey had to endure every day because of all the ugliness in the world. “I'm tired, boss. Tired of bein' on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. I'm tired of never having me a buddy to be with, to tell me where we's going to or coming from, or why. Mostly, I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world every day. There's too much of it - it's like pieces of glass in my head, all the time. Can you understand?” John was clearly too good for this world! After such an emotionally draining film, it's time for a romance movie or two. You should react to "Meet Joe Black" (with Brad Pitt, Claire Forlani, and Anthony Hopkins), as well as "The Lake House" (with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock). Both well-acted and interesting love stories with a twist. John (Kortrijk) Courtright

btw Mary, there is content for years to react to. You only have just broke through the surface of what is out there. You have watched some of the best but its just the surface.

One of the best things about going into a movie blind is no hint of what to expect. The Part where John grabs Paul and the lights start getting brighter, Mary having no idea what was going on like "What's happening?" That's the best reactions. Sam Rockwell played Justin Hammer in iron Man 2. He played one of the lost youth in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 movie when he was an unknown. Mary, react to TMNT 1990 request lol. RIP to Michael Clark Dungan and Michael Jeter. John Trevolta turned down the role of Paul of another movie that was a huge flop lol. The people who made Shawshank Redemption definitely made this film both stories by Stephen King. I saw reactions from Mary I never saw before lol. This movie is a great classic. The best story telling

Hi Mary. And let me explain a few things About this movie. ----------------------------------------- 1: Michael Clark Duncan (Aka, John) got recommanded by non other then Bruce Willis. To Frank Darrabont, To play John Coffey. 2: When John said "Careful" "Careful" he said that directly to Paul.. cos John knew in a way.. who was coming in. 3: When Del got Exccuted. John took most of his pain, thats why he was shaking so much.. Cos he knew Percy was put on the spot. And.. Del was Excecuted because he was Gay.. 4: When John Saved Melinda from her Tumor, He did not spit out the flies then and there, like he always does.. so he could give those to Percy.. so he would kill Wild Bill.. and messes his head up in the same time (two birds with one stone, in fact) 5: I belief, Mr Jingles Died at the end of the movie.. thats why Paul said. If he can let a mouse live so long, how much longer do i have. ❤❤❤ Ray. P.S i hope this helps you a bit.
