So much fun watching this with you.

Patrick Toscano

If you are a Big Bang Theory fan you may notice that Rusty is played by a young Johnny Galecki who played Leonard.

Also the Griswold house was the same one used in WandaVision as Wanda and Vision home.

Scrooged (1988) is a such a wonderful retelling of the classic A Christmas Carol. It stars Bill Murray and it's simply a must watch for me every year. You should really check it out. I think you would love it.

Still my favorite Christmas movie to date. This and White Christmas are the two Christmas movies I watch each year without fail. Glad you enjoyed it :)

I'm SO glad that you enjoyed this one Mari!! I have watched the full length movie 4 times in the last week! Ashleigh, Natalie Gold, Cassie from Popcorn in Bed, and NOW, Mary, my good friend from Belgium. REGRETS?!? NONE!! SO many lines that I quote with my friends, even now some 30+ years after seeing it for the first time.... "Where ya gonna put a tree that big, Griswold?" "bend over and I'll show you..." "you gotta a lotta nerve talking to me like that, Griswold!!!" "I wasn't talking to YOU...." "did you check our shitters, honey?" "merry christmas, merry christmas, merry christmas, kiss my ass, kiss my ass, kiss HIS ass, kiss YOUR ass, happy hanukkah......" "if this plate gets dented, my hair just ain't gonna look right...." "you couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant!...." Always makes me laugh!! If you haven't watched Spies Like Us, Fletch/Fletch Lives, The Three Amigos, and Caddyshack, I STRONGLY recommend those as films from Chevy Chase's golden age.... the first two Vacation films are great two (vacation and european vacation....(I wouldn't bother with any of the rest of them) I hope you and Lawrence and the two kitties have a LOVELY christmas! Looking forward to whatever is next on the list!

The "National Lampoon" title comes from a once popular humor/satire magazine of the same name. In addition to the first 3 Vacation movies, the group is also responsible for the beloved college campus comedies ANIMAL HOUSE and VAN WILDER. The writer of the first 3 Vacation movies is John Hughes, who also wrote HOME ALONE and PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES and is responsible for a majority of the most beloved comedies of the 1980's. Chevy Chase was also a very popular comedic actor in the 1980's. Some other comedies he stars in that I highly recommend include, THREE AMIGOS, SPIES LIKE US, and in particular FLETCH, which is not only a grand comedy but a terrific investigative mystery as well.

Gaylord is indeed a regular old name, derived from Old French "gaillard". "Meet the Parents" is the movie for more Gaylord-related mockery and shenanigans.

Great reaction. I love this movie. It doesn't feel like Christmas if I don't watch it at least once before Christmas Day. It's a favorite with my whole family :) Clark is a mess. He makes terrible decisions and screws up often but his heart is usually in a good place. It's perfect because when things go wrong he's not completely blameless so you can laugh but you still feel a little bad for him at the same time. It was interesting watching your reaction to the pledge of allegiance for grace and the nation anthem after the explosion. Those were supposed to be funny because of how out of place they were but I couldn't help but wonder if you thought it was some next level propaganda or something (They do have the nation anthem before sport events. That was added some time ago I'm sure to push people to be more patriotic. Kind of weird when you hear how much the NFL is paid by the US military to do all the shows they do before and during games. Oh well :) Besides this one, my favorite Christmas movies are "It's a Wonderful Life," "Die Hard," and "Trapped in Paradise." There are plenty of other good ones though. I hope you have a Merry Christmas :)

The national anthem is sung before most sporting events.. In this case baseball ("Play Ball!"). I kind of thought that was pretty common around the world but I guess I don't actually know.
