Hi Peeps!

I did record the 3 modern Star Trek movies in a row, and I like to post them together so the uploads are not all over the place with different things going on all the time :). So this week you get Star Trek: Into Darkness and Star Trek: Beyond. I know that many people want reactions to the older movies, so I take note and I will record those eventually too, I really love Star Trek :).

Next week we continue again with MCU and Patreon votes! :)

Hello Mari! I greatly enjoyed your first two Star Trek reactions and hope for more in the future. To echo some of the other posters here, I would recommend that at some point you consider doing a similar run of classic Star Trek. It will definately be a different experience. I recommend the following: Space Seed: this is from the original series, and it is the introduction of Khan. Star Trek 2, The Wrath of Khan: film sequel to Space Seed. This is considered by many fans to be the greatest Star Trek film. It is also the inspiration for Into Darkness. Star Trek 3, The Search for Spock: direct sequel to Star Trek 2 Star Trek 4, The voyage Home: direct sequel to the third film. These three films are all part of the same overarching story and work very well together. And watching Space Seed is a great introduction to the original series, while also preparing you for The Wrath of Khan. I suggest skipping Star Trek 1, The Motion Picture. I do think it is a beautiful science fiction film but it is missing some of the excitement / joy found in the later films. You might actually like it from a serious science fiction perspective, but it is a very different type of experience from what you've already seen.

I actually quite enjoy ST: The Motion Picture. The germ of the story is solid and pure TREK. I will also agree that it's flawed and ponderous. There are way too many long panning shots that do nothing to advance the story and only communicate the message "Hey, we have an FX budget now!" I don't know that I would skip it entirely but would agree it's an abysmal entry point into Classic Trek.

I love Star Trek: The Motion Picture (The Director's Edition), but it's definitely important to go in expecting something more like 2001 then an action movie.
