Man... I forgot how hard it is to watch that scene where that girl gets her face cut up 😦 I mean... she was *mean*, and there's tons of people that get killed in this show, but man that scene is rough. Also, I don't know if this needs to be pointed out, but they call Duquan "Dookie" because it means poop, it's not just a play on his name 😞

So we finally catch up with McNulty and find that he has straightened his life out. He appears to be in a healthy relationship with Beady Russell and isn't drinking to excess. He's working the streets as a uniformed patrolman. Good for him. Apparently it's goodbye to the old Major Crimes Unit, as Lt. Marimow has successfully forced out Cool Lester Smooth, and Kima is ready to follow him into Homicide. Lt. Marimow was created by Wire creator David Simon as an "anti-homage" to famed newspaperman William K. Marimow, who was chief editor of the Baltimore Sun newspaper when Simon started out as a reporter. When the paper began cutting back operations and getting rid of reporters and staff to "streamline operations" in order to look more profitable, Simon blamed Marimow for not standing up to the publisher. In the last episode we saw Michael refuse to take Marlow's $200 for school clothes. When Marlo went to talk to the kid, Michael looked him in the eye while continuing to refuse the money. That clearly impressed Marlo, who in this episode tells Chris that the kid shows potential to be a good "soldier" when he gets some experience. It's good to see "Bunny" Colvin back in operation after his retirement -- seems his story may cross over into Prez' new career somehow.
