That was pretty good. Honestly, the scene where the firm explained the settlement to the plaintiffs made me a little angry. I agree that it was unfair for the families to be so upset with the firm when they went completely bankrupt taking a case literally nobody was willing to take and getting screwed big time by the judge. Hell, they reduced their cut so much they basically took the case at cost. As you said, the loss the woman suffered and the loss the partners took can't be compared in a meaningful and fair way. The world would really suck if everyone couldn't have empathy for others if they feel like they've suffered more.

The only time I saw (parts of) this movie was on a cross-Atlantic flight to Italy for a school trip when I was 17. This was in the days of one modest centrally located screen that you had to watch as a group. I had listened to all 4 CD’s that I had brought with me, read an entire Stephen King book (‘Desperation’ I believe), and conversed for hours. But finally a movie! And what do 16 & 17 year olds love? John Travolta, civil lawsuits, shady companies, and dirty water, oh and terminally ill children obvi. I was extremely frustrated and eager to get off that plane. Luckily we didn’t need to divert. I only NEARLY died of boredom. Granted, this movie didn’t get a fair shake from me. But it’s one of those that I still can’t go anywhere near today. Catch you on the next one lol!
