So glad you got into this show, really looking forward to ep 9/10 👍 Okay... Gettysburg and Bull Run were a couple major battles in our Civil War. At the time, it was about as far back in history as WW2 is for us, so there will still veterans alive who had fought against each other. Also at the time of WW2 there was still a very strong north/south divide in the US, along with quite a bit of, um, hurt feelings. (Side note: if you ever feel like doing a reaction to a four-hour-long movie that's entirely about a single battle, I can't recommend "Gettysburg" enough.) "Gunny" is a nickname for the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in the Marines. Without getting into too much detail about rank structure, a gunny's an experienced NCO who's usually in charge of a few dozen guys. Also... you're waaaay more observant than me, I think I was on my third time watching this before I realized that was Chuckler. The first couple times I was thinking "why's Sledge stopping to talk to this random guy on a stretcher" 🙄
