Hey everyone!
It's always a bit tricky when you lay down the perks for Patreon, not quite knowing how they will actually work in the wild. So I've been just thinking a little bit of how to best do these sneak peaks for the 2$+ tier. What bits go in here? What do I post publically in the buildup to the new release? What do i keep private for the higher tiers?
With a lot of the work for this particular update being behind-the-scenes planning, and naturally writing will also always be a large part of it, it can be tough to figure out what to show!
So this is my attempt #1!
Let's start with the dates
What do I aim for currently? Ideally I'd wish to get the build to the early access Patrons before the beginning of April and so a month from there the public release will follow.
It's been over a month since the initial release and honestly, I would prefer not to draw it out quite that much. But as mentioned above a sizable part of the work I did was planning what i even really want to do with the characters, and brushing away some of the haziness that was laying over those general thoughts I had when working on the initial release. And of course the initial release was pretty much simultaneously to patrons and the public. This means it stretches things when I now go for a delayed public release. But yes, that is the timeline for now.
What to expect from this next build?
So, what will we have for absolute certain?
2 Character portraits. Potentially 3 but only 2 are certain. The big debuts for the final art of the in-game portraits will be Samuel and Rajeeyah!
But not only will the final art for them be included, but expressions for them will be as well! Samuel's got 9 for now, Raj will then probably end up with about the same amount, and I'll just be expanding them as we go along, and I notice certain expressions are needed.
Story wise it's a bit harder to judge just how far I'll manage to go. But I doubt I'll actually finish day 2. The thing I always love about VNs is if they do actually keep decent track of things, so after day 1 I already have a few strings I want to pull on to give people different experiences, which naturally of course means it'll probably be a decent bit bigger on the whole than day 1 was.
Not all of that is always major different scenes mind you. But even stuff like, for example, some smaller differences in character reactions if you have a good relationship with them at that point. Things that might not even always be noticeable when you're playing, but it's just something I quite enjoy and want to emphasize over decisions only having a small immediate impact, or being big decisions that lead you down separate paths.
So it'll just be a case where day 2 will end up quite a bit wider than day 1 I imagine. I'm not super deep into the writing yet, but that is the plan at least.
So that is the status of things currently! I hope you're liking the sound of that and to round things we'll just toss in a little bit of crop from the Samuel artwork that's been finished.
