I'm not One Piece expert, I'm just a casual fan, so I'll comment based on my own experience and from what I know! This show is mostly based on the manga. I watched aprox 100 episodes of the anime back when I was in Uni I think, so I knew what was gonna happen in the live action, but I watched the anime YEARS ago, so I had a vague idea, tho I did not remember exactly detail by detail, I had a general idea. STILL, the live action is an adaptation, so they did change stuff around so the narrative would make more sense in a live action perspective. I personally really LOVED the show and was amazed specially by the casting, everyone is LITERALLY the living version of their characters and I just honestly want to hang out with them and be friends haha Now, from what I heard, this show is catered more towards people that have not watched One Piece, it was made with the purpose to give homage to the original source of course, but also with the purpose of getting more people interested in One Piece in general, and also adding little easter eggs throughout the series for the long time fans as well. So basically you guys are the target audience for the show haha Also, Luffy's actor (Iñaki) is indeed latino, he's Mexican! So latino crew represented! 😎

Never thought you guys will react to One Piece even a live action. I tried watching this as just a new show but as a hardcore longtime One Piece fan it's hard not to compare with anime/manga. They did change a lot of things but still paid homage to the source material. Some changes I liked and some I didn't but I do think they did a really good job with this adaptation to bring new fans in. I've seen so many people watching One Piece anime/reading manga due to this live action. The cast for Koby was spot on. Iñaki Godoy who played Luffy is Mexican. Oda (the mangaka) said Luffy would be Brazillian in our world. It's always hilarious seeing people's reactions to Luffy stretching 🤣 Looking forward to the reactions to the rest of the episodes.

I'm so excited to rewatch this with you guys!! David hun...you're overthinking everything lol, I won't lie when you were going on with that little speech I zoned out. I'm not a big One Piece expert either, but I believe there's like over 1,000 episodes not including the movies, I got to episode 40 something and am currently trying to rewatch it, but I think it did pretty good compared to some of the other live action animes I've seen. For me, I loved this and am hoping it gets more seasons to it. I'm like Kevin, I'm just treating it like a new show really instead of focusing like an anime/manga. Anyways, can't wait to watch your reactions to this!

One Piece is one of my favourite animes and it's at the top of my list!! There are currently 1070ish episodes and I am on 1041. Though the anime and show look funny and are filled with joy and comedy it has its own dark side to it. I think it does a really good job of showing different characters who have different dreams and beliefs and how all these have influenced the characters on how they behave and live their lives. Like in this episode due to Koby being like a prisoner on Alvida ship his view of pirates is that they are thieves and murderers. But the pirates that Luffy met were friendly and always told stories of adventures. This shows the reason why Koby would want to become a marine while Luffy wants to be a pirate. Similarly, as Nami said that she hates pirates there is a really sad reason for that. They will reveal both Zoro's and Nami's backstories in this season. This is only one of the reasons I like the anime and show so much. There are so many different layers to it and it also at times relates to real-life issues that some people are facing even though this is a fantasy world. I just feel like as a kid watching this has taught me so much about people and why some people do the stuff they do and how experiences in life can make or break a person. Sorry for the rambling haha its my favourite show could not help myself haha. I loved watching this with you and hope you guys enjoy the live-action. And I recommend you watch/read the anime/manga. If you guys don't want to record it or react to it that's fine too but I do hope you give it a try in your free time at least.
