Writing Update - December 2022 (Patreon)

Okay, in lieu of a business post which I still need to edit, you guys get a writing update. Sorry. 

This entire month is on-off in terms of productivity due to a lot of illness. I'm still recovering, every time it seems I get better I seem to catch another damn cold that wipes all my energy. So, here we are, with some updates.

A Thousand Li

A Thousand Li continues to be my main focus. For those reading along for the Sundering Blade, we will be speeding up release of the work and replacing Climbing the Ranks on Saturday. This means that everyone (across all patron ranks getting chapters) will get to read it this month.

After this month is over, it will be removed entirely and will not be available for purchase or acquisition at all until August next year. Again, reminder that I expect to do some edits on early chapters to ensure it all flows better.

Of course, Legendary and other Classes get the chapters earlier, so they get to start reading A Thousand Li 9 - the Third Cut before everyone else. I'm already around 43k words into the series at the time of writing, and expect to finish writing by end February. You'll all get chapters till at least March maybe April, depending.

Once I'm done with the Third Cut, I'll be editing the Sundering Blade and making sure it's ready for release in August.  I won't write another ATL work after that, but instead shift to my new-new LitRPG focused work.

System Apocalypse

System Finale is finally out! Kickstarter's should have received it, and everyone else including patrons get them this month via Starlit Publishing. Then we release in mid-January for ACX for everyone else, bringing the main series to a conclusion.

I'll be speaking with KT next week about ongoing work for SA:AU and Craig's already working on that.

Also, the System Apocalypse Short Story Anthology 2 is out on prelaunch in Kickstarter. We'll be releasing it in a few weeks from now, for a quick turnaround. Most edits are done, we're just getting proofing sorted which starts this weekend.

Otherwise, DE translations continue apace.

Climbing the Ranks

So we're releasing Climbing the Ranks in January on Starlit Publishing. It'll be a free serial that everyone can read, with new chapters available for people to read ahead via a subscription program ON Starlit Publishing.

Once the first book is finished, we'll release the ebook to Patrons. So you can read along on the site, or just wait for the full ebook. Expected release is in late August.

Hidden Wishes Universe

I've completed a Hidden Wishes universe work. It's very much a cozy urban fantasy about cooking called The Nameless Restaurant. We'll launch it sometime next year, as always you all will get a PDF of the work early. It's a novella, not a full work and while familiar faces show up, if I write additional works in this world, it won't focus on them.

Might be a standalone.

Other Projects

My fantasy epic has once again stalled. I literally cannot work on the fantasy epic and ATL at the same time. Big worldbuilding, emotionally resonant work just takes too much out of me to switch between.

I've started another project, that I will work on whilst doing ATL. It's not an incredibly complex one, it's Gamelit / LitRPG focused, and frankly, is a ton of fun so far. It is meant to be written in short bursts, so novella sized each time. I'm not sure how I'll release it to you all, but general release will likely only happen when I have a large number of novellas ready to go for rapid release.

Power, Masks and capes universe book is currently being written on my Remarkable 2. Having a ton of fun with that. We'll see how and when it finishes, I just pick it up and write (longhand!) when I have nothing better to do. I'll share the PDF for all of you to poke at when I'm done (along with the actual epub).

And that's about it really. No other major projects being written.
