Revenant

Not sure if you talked about it already but you might want to change to the original Korean audio with subtitles instead of the dubbed, I hear it butchers the original dialogue and honestly IMO it is just not very good. Obviously if you prefer the dubbed version then keep it how it is but thought I would let you know if you didn't already.

Hey guys, i have to say i totally agree with Revenant here. The emotions alone get literally lost in translation in the dubbed version. I would say, give it a try in the original with subs and then decide for yourself. And yes, the salesman at the train station was the male lead in "Train to Busan" BTW, the amount that our main protagonist owes in debt (415 million won) is roughly about 300 K US Dollars. Love your Crystal Lake shirts guys Great reaction and i see you in the next one.

I prefer the dubbed version, I tried it with the English subtitles but you can't even see what the characters are doing if you're looking at the bottom of the screen or reading the entire time.

I didn't even know there was an English dubbed version (I'm always watching foreign films subbed) but this English version isn't that bad compared to others. I think as an independent viewer it's better for me subbed but as a group it's better dubbed One interesting thing that I don't consider a spoiler is that the circle/square/triangle on the pink people is indicative of what role they play circle is general worker, triangles are guards, squares are managers. ((but the more I see them I think of the controls of Playstation or other gaming devices)) They also used very little CG in this series so the sets and things like the giant doll took forever to make and had a lot of planning involved. Therefore it is important to use every clue available to you to read the series. Like, for example, check out the background scenery if you want to solve some of the inner riddles of the show That being said, when asked if I would choose to be in Squid Game by friends I just reply that I'm in too much of a privileged position in life to do it (or maybe I'm too nervous to gamble and I don't need to win the money). Which means that these people are really grabbing hold of life and they have no other choice but to play these games. Can't wait for you guys to reach the second episode and start seeing more of the show, it really does keep drawing you back and it is very binge worthy. I know I'm voting it high on the pulse test ;) Also, I love Ali. Player 199

I've watched the first season in Korean with subs. The original Korean audio is very unique and the voice inflections and mannerisms are quite hard to replicate in English and that's especially true for the main character. I suspect that it might be the reason why you found the acting to be "a bit corny in the first half". I also found the main character to be just a doofus here compared to the original audio where, instead, he comes across as a loveable doofus. With that said, I respect your choice and it's an added value for me to revisit the show in English anyway. So either one of the audio choices would suit me.

I agree, I was thinking when they said a bit corny, well that’s kind of how English language dubs make these kinds of things That being said in catering to a larger audience, people who prefer the subs like you and me, are usually going to see it dubbed but it tends not to work with the casual viewer who would watch it in English but not when you have to read subtitles. It’s sad, but true

JRabbit the 169,000,000 krw (South korean won) that he owes is about $133,000. The easy way to translate is to remove three zeroes, it’s obviously not exact but gives you a ballpark estimate to whatever they say.

No joke. I have now watched this reaction 3 times in less than 24 hours
