Why do I always love the things that make you guys cry? I can tell this one pushed some buttons with you guys and I completely understand that because it does for me as well on a number of levels. It's very brave of you guys to go into these reactions blind and share the full breadth of responses that different pieces of art or media can evoke. We do appreciate seeing that these things touch other people the same way that they do us, so thank you. This movie couldn't be more 90s if it were Clueless. It even has Paul Rudd. Lol. As someone who actually went to high school and college in the 90s in and around Pittsburgh (where this is set), this movie is eerily real. The clothes, the music, the mix tapes, the Rocky Horror Nights at old movie theaters (including that exact theater), the extracurricular drug use, the coming out troubles and homophobia, even the color saturation brings you directly back to that place and time and you remember all of the people you knew who've been in all of those difficult situation (or in that exact mental hospital)s. I love what Sam says at the end about college being a revelation because that was incredibly true for me. Fun local facts: The "Fruit Loop" in Schenley Park was known as a gay hook up area. That's why before Patrick gets beat up in the cafeteria someone says something to him about Schenley Park as well. In general, people went to one of three places to hang out after events in high school or after the bars in college, Kings (as in the movie) Denny's, or the local chain Eat 'n Park. My college theater department got a new chair in the late 90s who was obsessed with the experience of coming out of that tunnel (The Fort Pitt) and bursting onto the cityscape. Little did we know that in a decade or so someone would write a book and there would then be a movie adaptation centered around it. (No I've never done that because that would be sooo dangerous).

Hey guys that was a crazy ride. I never watched this movie, but i always wanted to. Much like you i did not know anything about it, other than Emma Watson being in it. At first i thought it would be a coming of age story, which it was in a way, but the whole thing was done so beautiful and respectful. I too thought this would turn dark along the way, because i could feel the tension building. And what a reveal it was. Again i applaud this movie for tackling that theme in a unique way. People who do those things deserve a special place in hell. Lucifer would have a field day. And you guys doing a reaction like that is again one of the reasons i LOVE your channel. Stay safe and i see you in the next one.
