A little snippet from a series of drawings I’m working on exploring Marnie. Two things of note:

1.) featured are Marnie’s two best friends, Dot (white bunny) and Jacqueline (Jackie for short, the scruffy jackrabbit). Dot is an architect, Jackie is a professional track and field athlete. They’re in a perpetually squabbly on again-off again relationship that Marnie struggles to keep track of.

2.) small towns sometimes have historically been populated by a very specific animal majority (in Cottontail County’s case, it’s rabbits), which leads to species-specific cultural customs and language that residents insist is charming (eg. “everybunny”) that outsiders may find odd and exclusionary.

Dot and Jackie character's design remind me of Cloudburst and Zipper flash, they are so cute 🥰

Not the least bit surprising. A number of characters have turned out to be direct translations before.

Does Cottontail County, by any chance, have a local band called "The Beelzebuns"? Or any other punny-bunny bands?
