Skye Shepherd is the youngest pup out of a litter of five. Their family, the Shepherd family, is a long-established pack of down-home country herding dogs. The Shepherds own a small farm that's home to the best strawberry patches in all of Dogma County (or so they claim). Skye had a fairly idyllic childhood living in the peaceful countryside, yet left home as soon as she could because 1.) she didn't want to spend her days as a berry farmer, and 2.) her relationship with her mother was growing rocky. Her siblings, however, were not a reason for leaving. Annoying as they can be, Skye nonetheless loves her pup pack, and is their de facto "alpha", despite being the baby.

Shadow: The first born, Shadow is strong, hard-working, dependable, and brave- everything a farm dog should aspire to be. He's also a colossal fuckboy and flirts with everybody on two legs, writing pretentious guitar songs about his many true loves. He is vain and obsessed with playing the part of an unflappable, straw-chewin' cool cowboy, and unfortunately for everybody, he's pretty darn good at it. The rumbly deep voice (complete with a honey-dipped southern drawl), make him a pretty popular dude. Outside of his lecherous pursuits, Shadow is quite warm and friendly, and will always extend a paw to anybody in need of help. Of all the siblings, he is closest to Skye, and he often steps back to let her lead the pack.

Star: She's Skye, but better. While Skye is a humble writer for social media company Fuzzfeed, Star is a top-tier talent agent, managing genuine celebrities and producing various entertainment projects. Star is exactly as ambitious and passionate as her little sister, and quite enjoys flaunting her career success in Skye's face. This is largely because Skye was their mother's favorite growing up (Skye won all those puppy pageants that forever eluded Star), and their mom might've unwittingly encouraged the girls to compete for her love and attention. So, to this day, they compete. Mostly by trying to out-do the other, but neither gal is above scuffling like puppies.

Although Skye and Star are bitterly jealous of each other for different reasons, they secretly admire the other deeply. Skye kinda wishes she could just once express awe at her sister's great ventures, and Star kinda wishes she could confide in Skye that her high-flying career is actually rather exhausting and lonely. Yet showing vulnerability like this would mean admitting defeat, and neither sister can stand for that. So they compete.

Soup: The family oddball, Soup keeps largely to herself and doesn't speak much. As her name implies, she's quite good at making soup. One could say she's obsessively devoted to crafting the perfect bowl of soup. She's been experimenting with recipes for years, she's had some success selling her soups at the local farmer's market, but Soup doesn't really care about that. The money simply goes toward funding her greatest passion in life, which is making more soup. Know what Soup got you for Christmas? Soup. Your grandma's funeral? More soup. Your wedding day? Better believe Soup is there in her ill-fitting tuxedo, and tucked somewhere in that tuxedo is a tupperware of soup. Soup's family gauge her mood purely on the output and flavor of the soup she produces.

Soup sometimes breaks up Skye and Star's bickering by whacking them on the nose with her stirring spoon.

Scallywag: Our resident himbo, Scallywag is a sweet and loyal friend to all. He's got the best sense of humor in the family, and is more than willing to use his strength to keep the peace. Scallywag is rather trusting and innocent, and has trouble seeing negative qualities in anyone. He is optimistic, enthusiastic, and fully comfortable in his own fur. Scallywag does things with little concern for how it will be perceived by others- he sleeps with a teddy bear, he meets up with the local grandmas for their weekly sewing circle, he compliments strangers earnestly. Although he's often the target for his siblings' ribbing, he takes it all in stride, and knows that they would maul the first person to say an unkind word toward him.

Scallywag is close with all his siblings, but especially Soup, who is his best friend. They understand each other completely and their other siblings don't get it at all
