AHHHHHHH I DIDN'T THINK I'D FINISH THIS THIS WEEKEND

so glad to finally share page 1 with y'all! Thank you all SO much for your support and patience, this story's literally been years in the making. I'm so excited to finally begin!

the writing of this is sooo good.... perfect example of in media res. i love how we're getting advice from skyla's pov, and how the reader slowly puts together what's going on. that, combined with the contrast between jam's high-energy panel and the quiet softness of the final one--you can FEEL the apprehension but it also feels nice and gentle? man, a-fuckin-plus

this page? I'm not sure. I drew the thumbnails, layout, and first panel on Friday. Then the Magnolia panel Saturday night. Then the third and fourth panel today, plus finishing touches. All in all, maybe 10-15 hours? It's hard to guess cuz I didn't work on it continuously and took lots of breaks. It definitely took less time to finish than a full illustration, like the one I did for "Snare" and "My Better Half". Those took AGES

This looks so good aaaaaaa!!!!!!!! Something about seeing Skyla soaring in the sky like that has brought this world and these characters up an entirely new level I feel. Like they feel so real in a way I haven’t seen before and I love it. Super excited to see where it goes!! You got this!!!

Thank you! :D This is why I was so excited to start a comic. Sequential art has so much more potential than standalone static images. When the viewer's eyes move across the panels, it gives the illusion of motion and progress, so the characters "feel" alive. It's like watching a movie, one frame at a time. I can't wait to showcase the comic's cast talking and moving and going about their lives, I think it's got the potential to lend so much authenticity and life to my characters.
