you're gonna have a happy birthday and like it, cupcake

Despite coming from a family of hypersocial peppy party ponies, Cupcake isn't the best at socializing and hates being in the spotlight. It makes her feel awkward and shy. Often she shuts down and can't find her voice when all eyes are on her. She tries to grin and bear it for her parents' sake.....she knows they mean well.

One thing I wanted to showcase with Cupcake and Moondancer's relationship is that they're rather comfortable letting their walls down around each other, and exposing the more negative and vulnerable parts of their personalities. For Moondancer, Cupcake is probably his most trusted pony, aside from Maud. Cupcake feels more comfortable telling Moony that she's feeling uncomfortable and unhappy than say....Pandora. Pan is Cupcake's best friend, but she's got a tendency to toss magic around in a manic attempt to solve their problems. And sometimes the solution to an awkward evening isn't to shove a magical pipe-bomb in the birthday cake. Sometimes Cupcake doesn't want a solution to her problem, she just wants to talk and be heard. Moony hears her just fine, and assures her the party won't last forever.

does cupcake enjoy being in dresses/feminine clothing at all, or is it something she just puts up with for the event? wondering if she just feels Awkward about it because of the inherent awkwardness of the event or if she really does feel uncomfortable in ultra-feminine clothing (because girl, same)

It's a mix of both! Though she could bear feeling awkward in a dress, it's being the center of the celebration that's really bothering her. She feels awkward and silly.
