still playing around with cloudy's design, i'm thinking something like this?

The left silvery one being her natural colors, and the right being one of her more common dye jobs when she's an adult.

I had the idea that Cloudy is an unexpected blot of grey in an otherwise very colorful family. That, combined with her shy, soft-spoken nature as a child, lead to her often being pushed out of the limelight by her more confident siblings. Some ponies were hard pressed to remember that their beloved Rainbow Dash even had a third foal. Cloudy was most commonly seen hiding behind her siblings' ankles, or her parents' wings- and often opted to quietly paint while Phoenix and Stormy excelled in sports.

With adolescence, Cloudy's personality suddenly shifted, and she became very focused on reminding the world she existed. She's loud, she's confident, she's unashamed of who she is, and she'll kick anybody that gives her lip right in the shins. That includes Stormy and Phoenix.....but to be fair, it's the only body part of theirs she can easily reach.

As an artist, Cloudy is entranced with color, and has always considered her polychromatic big brother to be an absolutely beautiful pony (oh, how Stormy used to blush when his baby sister would say that), and she views him as her muse. Roboheather notes that Cloudy often dyes her mane to create beautiful splashes of color more befitting a daughter of Rainbow. However, she does suffer from occasional bouts of depression, and during these periods her mane is left it's natural cold grey.
