The Disir were the ones that healed Mordred as a punishment for Arthur not obeying them, Merlin says so himself towards the end, Mordred didn't do anything. Merlin chose Arthur over the cause, he done fucked up. Idk that dragon gave terrible advice before and once even tried to take down Camelot himself, I don't trust him. Hearing Merlin say there can never be a place for magic in Camelot broke my heart and filled it with so much dread of what's to come, the Disir said there will not be another chance, can we still fix this? It's also so dark because had Merlin convinced Arthur to let magic be allowed in Camelot the Disir would've probably let Mordred die as a reward? Maybe 🤔 or maybe the mere action of Arthur allowing magic users to live freely would've made Mordred not a threat even if he lived, not sure which direction it would've went, which we had a what if episode of this moment lol

I’ve only just been able to get to this now, but I feel I have to post a comment because I love this episode and I absolutely loved your reaction! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and that you realised what a significant episode this is (not everyone does on their initial watch). This episode also contains one of my favourite scenes of the show, just in terms of performance/directing/writing - the conversation between Merlin and Arthur over the fire in the forest, it’s just so good and frustrating and heartbreaking. Colin Morgan does such a great job in his performance there, as you pointed out, you can see the conflict so clearly on his face. And you’re right that last line he says, that there can be no magic in camelot, is such a striking one - I love how shocked you were! I also love that you’ve picked up on just how much Merlin has changed, especially since the first few seasons. He’s so distrustful and paranoid and solemn and sometimes quite morally ambiguous, it’s tough to see him like this. This was such a great reaction!
