Love seeing Gwen again. I like how the thing with Thomas is playing out. It's not like a switch was flipped and Thomas went completely from being an asshole to a good guy. He backslides. He still has those instincts. He still has the resentment of seeing someone who was below him in the hierarchy now sitting and eating with the family, especially when he thought she was being sneaky about it. So he tried to cut the legs out from under her and it ended up coming right back to bite him. As Baxter said, "You are your own worst enemy." I don't think Tom has gone full capitalist. But from his perspective, he's legitimately seeing something laudable in America that didn't exist in Britain at the time. America was friendlier to people climbing social classes. The fact that a man could work hard and "climb his way to the top in a single lifetime." Yes, it's still a case of haves and have-nots, but there is one less barrier in America. A millionaire who started life as a bricklayer would have opportunities there that he never would in England. Mary and Henry are a good match. Like Charles Blake, Henry can match Mary in her cool, sarcastic manner. I loved when she asked if he was working up to making a pass and he never took his eyes off the menu, just gave a little shrug and a calm, "Probably."
